You can have 49% if you want a former member of this forum, I'm keeping the controlling share otherwise you'll take it over with badges & your DaveP love-in talk!!

I suppose this'll be announced today but Paul has said it can go on here.

Steve Casson is stepping down from his role of commercial manager, the job will be advertised in the coming days and it's hoped an appointment will be in place by no later than mid March.

Ill settle for that Ian haha.

Im glad that the Commericial Manager job is availible now and I hope we get someone in who can move the club forward and turn it into a slick well oiled money making machine.

Will the new shirts be on sale for the start of summer this year?
Did the board look at how the rugby do shirt launch evenings, player sponsorship evenings and take that on board?
What is the problem with the internet that seems to hold the club back so much? We have BT buisness contracts at work and whenever we have a problem they send people to fix it the next day and they keep coming until it's fixed

Are the cages being put back on Ian or is Casson planning to completely replace the pylons?

Another one of his lies about refurbing them and keeping them looking as they are.

Will be a massive shame if we lose them completely.

I think "lie" is a bit strong Chris. I was there last week with the contractor when we were looking at the floodlights (among other things) and the structural report makes for pretty harsh reading. You have to remember that last year they were made safe, this year they need the same treatment! surely in anyone's books that can't carry on, probably not even down to cost in the end just the simple fact that they're reaching the point of no return and in the end they wont meet the requirements to keep the ground safety certificate.
Remember, this is an independent contractor along with an independent structural engineer that's assessing them.

I happen to agree with you though, it would be a shame to lose them. I think Paul thinks the same.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Personally I would like to see the back of them they are extremely expensive to maintain can be badly effected by wind need painting at least in Every 3 years, you also need a very expensive foundation to support them, whereas a single pole structure needs little or no maintenance and less foundation work and your more likely to get the top grant for them than the type of structure we have, a good business is not run on memories.

I'll go with this too. I don't get the romanticism around a few pylons with lights on them. We need functional and modern, not old and unsustainable.

Of course its a lie Ian we were told the cages would be coming off last summer and would be refurbed. Then the rest would be done.

So whats changed since then?

I just think Casson should stop prmoising stuff.

Like club shops in town, the fact he told the steering group on the pitch he had 3 plans drawn up for the ground yet now we need a new feasibility study.

Anyway just calling it how I see it.

Hopefully things do turn out better than i think they will

Yeah, because that's the inevitable outcome of having modern lighting...

The plan?

So, not a lie at all. Unfortunate word to have used, Chris. Stating your ambition isn't the same as promising.

Once facts are known, plans change and once a new plan has been devised it will need to be tested for viability hence the need for a new feasibility study.

(The change of plan over the 'cages' last summer was explained at the time.)

yes we would all like the floodlights to stay but things have moved on with led lighting you do not need them that high and paul casson and everyone else has to accept that with the design the architects come up with might not be possible to keep the lights in the present design and also as previously mentioned would be cheaper to maintain etc,i`m sure in the end there will have to be compromises but anything is better then the "eyesore" of those horrible fences around the bases!

Paul casson`s problem is that he gets carried away in the moment and says things that he can`t deliver,i don`t think he does it on purpose,so anyway let`s be honest not everyone is going to like the plans but we have to work around, money it will cost, practicability, maintenance costs size of ground we require, parking training facilities and making sure that if in the future it needs making larger then this has to be factored in,i hope it all gets moving soon because it will give the supporters, town, players something to look forward to and hopefully somewhere to go thats modern and has the facilities that we all want! :D

I believe the reason the lights were put on the back burner was Jamie Reid did not realise you had to put in 6 weeks notice for the road outside to be closed to carry out this work ( source "Elaine")

From July 2014 - 18 months ago

He added: “We’re doing what we said we would do and what is needed. It’s a really good use of the money we’ve set aside for capital expenditure within the club and is in compliance with Football League standards which shows intent.”

The first phase of the operation is set to begin over the next couple of weeks. This will see the removal of the top third section of all three floodlights – the highest part of the tower structure and the square ‘top hat’ area where the lights are attached – as these areas are corroded. They will be sent to Gilmour who will then refurbish and repair the sections to a high standard, with a process of hot-dip galvanisation being applied. The bottom two thirds of the structures will remain standing and are to be cleared of any loose or unsafe objects, such as scaffold boards, unused brackets, redundant electrical boxes, etc.

The club’s existing lights will then be fitted to the shortened floodlight towers and they will be operational during the upcoming season.

After the end of next season, phase two kicks in. The standing bottom two thirds of the floodlight towers will be mechanically cleaned and repainted, with scaffolding being placed around them to complete this part of the refurbishment. Each floodlight will have a galvanised floodlight ladder attached to it.

The lights will be removed from the tower to allow electrical work to be carried out. The newly-refurbished top third will be placed back on top of the tower and the ‘Everton lights’ will be installed. In fact, the club’s existing lights and the ones provided by the Toffees – with those ones being distributed to the three structures – will all be attached and used after the job is done to add extra glare.
