According to a national radio pundit on Tuesday's post-match discussion, there are five or six front men ahead of Archer in the Villa pecking order.

Several Championship clubs already looking at taking him on loan.

Archer is a local lad who has been with us for quite some time now. there's a fair chance that the hat-trick saved his Villa career for at least another season. i think we'll keep hold of him just so the coaches can assess his progress from close quarters. If we were to send someone on loan and send Aaron Ramsey 9no, not the Juve one...) who is an attacking midfielder. as for the lack of training facilities, yes that would be a concern, but it also shows players trying to break through what life is like outside cosseted Premier league clubs. and if you want to make it at Villa, or elsewhere, you need to see the other side to appreciate what you have. Toughen them up.

I felt your young uns were tough enough... surprised how they came out and bullied some of our players... I didn’t expect this at all but big wake up in the gap between Prem and EPL 2. Be great if we can keep this connection going and BAFC be involved in the development of some of your up and coming players that need the edges rounded off! I’ve also been impressed with Villa, a team in the top flight in touch with the realities of the lower leagues and willing to make such a kind gesture of giving over your share of the gate. Well done Villa 👏

Scored for their U21 team in EFL Cup last night, and had assists for the other two goals.

Was apparently on the brink of joining Bristol Rovers on loan until another of their forwards moved on. Dean Smith said his status will be considered again in January.

Accrington have had no proper training ground of their own for the last 10 years and over that time it hasn't stopped PL clubs from sending their players there. In fact it is pretty well known that a few of them have been players who were perhaps getting a big too big for their boots and whose parent clubs managers thought a spell in East Lancashire might just bring them back down to earth.

And at at least one PL club the phrase " If you don't sort yourself out you.ll be off to Accrington for six months and well see what John Coleman makes of your attitude " was for a couple of years a well-worn phrase amongst academy staff at one PL club.

What a strange thread still banging on about a player that played against us in August.
