Shamalo's main problem is that Eastbourne's top striker got 2 hat-tricks in 2 or 3 games a few weeks back and there's no way Eastbourne can/will drop him after that.SKIPPER wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 11:20 am Eastbourne are challenging for promotion and were in a strongg play-off place when he joined them so there was no way he was going to walk straight into the starting eleven. That challenge has been maintained (3rd at the moment) but he is usually on the bench and makes a cameo appearance most games. Would hope he would go on loan at least for six months with a Northern NL club (Morecambe ?) next season.

Re: Katia Kouyate
The other loanee peaple seam to have forgotten about is Mazeed - he's at Hemel Hemstead, they were around the bottom 4 when he joined them, but now they are up to 10th. He's scored 3 times (i think). His injury time header last night was saved (by a defender) and the resulting Penalty got them a 2-1 win.

Re: Katia Kouyate
We are talking about three players we have taken a punt at playing league 2 football and progressing in any way shape or form, in Mazeed, Katia and John. Two haven’t found their way into any of their former and current managers thoughts, two failed to make any impact and the third is still unproven at this level or anywhere near it.
I am the eternal optimist but would be surprised if any feature in the future plans for long at all.

Mazeed proved when he played he was not to the required standard. As for Kouyate , not good enough at this time

Re: Katia Kouyate
To be fair in the first couple of games this season Kouyate looked a decent signing going past his fullback with ease. Clubs hadn't seen much of him before. His problems came when he was given no room and teams kept tight to him. He hadn't a clue in how to counteract that. and his confidence drained dramatically. He is still young so has time to develop but wether that's with us im unsure.BarrowLad71 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 7:42 pm Mazeed proved when he played he was not to the required standard. Re: Katia Kouyate
Kouyate was on the books at Everton Academy for years. He will have had access to the best training facilities and coaching, perfect pitches and tactical classroom settings. Academy coaching churns out technically gifted players but like when you’ve done an apprenticeship you only start to hone these skills when you get out there and do it for real, often in lower leagues.
Katia is still young and would like to see given more game time, I know he was injured which was a big set back for him but would be good to see him out there again before the end of the season.

Have to agree, started off very well then his form dipped then his injury. Hope the club haven't given up on him yet.Jonty wrote: ↑Fri Mar 21, 2025 4:29 pm Kouyate was on the books at Everton Academy for years. On loan at Spennymoor Town until.January 2026.
Should be a good learning experience for him.
