Covid 19 is not a Flu variant. It is caused by infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus first identified in 2019, and the flu is caused by infection with variants of the influenza virus. Different diseases that are spread in a similar way and some of the symptoms are similar but not all. You can even have covid and flu both at the same time.
