I don't think Baines would leave the Moyes revolution and the experience of the HD Stadium. Duncan though...the big man would be ideal. I think we need a manager who outranks the players under him in terms of experience and achievement and also will make sure his own thoughts and plans aren't sidelined. Duncan is the future if we can afford him.

We just had a manager who outranks the players we have in terms of experience and achievement. We also had one in the manager prior to him.

Technically you are correct...but who the hell had heard of Whing and what exactly had Clemence achieved?

I don't think there’ll be a massive rush on this. If McDonald can get full 90 minute performances and results out of them in the next half dozen games then he will be in pole position.
All appointments we've had have been hit and miss, even if they interview well, it’s no guarantee.

Next 6 games are against teams around us in the table. Results in these games will really shape which way we are going and I think we need minimum 9 points out of them. If McDonald can get us to mid table in the next 6 games (up to Shewsbury) then they've found their man.

I take your point about Andy Whing but the only manager we've had recently who played at the level Clemence did is David Dunn, playing for a Premier League team over a number of seasons is clearly an achievement. I can't think of anyone with greater playing achievements who would want to manage Barrow, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Neil McDonald racked up nearly 300 top flight appearances for Newcastle United, Everton and Oldham (at Oldham first season of the Premier League). He’s got a lot of top flight playing experience, and coaching. Vastly more than Whing, Clemence, Dunn.

The biggest mistake was made by not agreeing to Wild's requests whatever they were being called Head Coach or Manager whatever it was we should have given it to him.

Wild did good baring in mind his non playing background but he's long gone now and we have to move on.
He's hardly setting the place a light at Fleetwood so maybe he has a ceiling like a lot do In managerial positions??

So did Bobby Charlton Wayne Rooney Brian Kidd none were good managers
Mcdonald has not had alot of success as a Manager but it's his job to loose and after disastrous start yesterday they pulled it back
It has to be said Gillingham have had a number of draws.

I was referring to people we had appointed as managers not interims, I wasn't in any way dissing Neil McDonald's playing career. That said I live in Blackpool and I know he didn't pull up trees when he was manager there.

It’s worth noting those games you mention were played in the 80’s.
