I have watched that video of the sending off incidents 8 or 10 times trying to be neutral and anyone that says the ref was not spot on does not know the laws of the game.
In the first instance Livesey flung himself arms first trying to block the ball as the FGR player was about to shoot, the ball hit his leading arm on the elbow which was hand/arm to ball, a definite penalty. The second decision for the ref was denying a goal scoring opportunity, when the ball hit Danny on the arm its course altered and it scooped up and was caught by Dixon, wether Dixon would have saved it if it had not hit Danny does not come into the ref's decision making so it has to be a red card. The Williams sending off not so clear cut on the film but with the FG shouting off off tells you it was a little more than 2 players coming together. These things generally even themselves out and controversial decisions will go our way. Barrow have bigger problems than anything that happened at FG to worry about. Our defence has been ran raggered by the energetic forwards we have come up against and till Edmo gets that sorted out we will end up on the wrong end a more big scores this season,

For someone who has watched it 8 or 10 times thats a pretty inaccurate description of the incident!

He didn't throw himself at it arms first at all, he led with his feet and was just throwing his entire body in the way of the shot which is what any defender should do. When doing that you can't make your arms disappear, they have to go somewhere! It certainly wasn't ball to hand as you suggest either as that would imply that he deliberately positioned his arms that way in order to block the ball and that just clearly wasn't the case.

Penalty? Seen them given but harsh in my view. Red card? Not a chance and is amongst the worst sending off decisions I've seen.

Got to disagree Jock.Livesey is busting a gut to get a block in and when the player hits the ball Livesey is looking the other way. With his actions in trying to get a block in his arms cannot be by his side and unfortunately the ball hits his elbow. Its a shocking decision to send him off and i'm still not sure about the pen considering the proximity of Livesey to the shot.On our highlights the sending off of Williams is more straight forward. He kicked out at the player and it was stupid. No excuse.

I was right behind it and it was just as Kie said. He couldn't get out of the way, went down to block the ball, hit his elbow, so a harsh pen maybe. But with folk on the line how on earth can it be a pen??? The reaction of the fans behind the goal was for a reason. Awful and he followed it up with more.

Please listen to this Christ with my chequered history with the club im not going to start abusing opposition fans with my son there. This is garbage look at her behaviour during the game im telling you it was not much better after. I have 3 stewards that will back me all the way they have given me there names and will provide the club with the information needed.
From the FGR forum.

Sounds like he is talking out of his arse also sounds like he has history of being a [SwearFilter] as well.

Forest green stewards have a history of being awkward they attacked a Grimsby fan last year for bringing an inflatable into the ground.

It looks like phil is coming to Barrow for a fight good luck with that.
Anyone who names himself after a hard man character from Eastenders Is obviously a knob

I saw the incident and frayas version is correct - do however need to question why Phil Mitchell was still hanging around at the end - attempted to fight barrow fans and at one point said I'll [SwearFilter] kill them - all in front of his little boy - I don't think the lad will be scared by a 18 year old girl swearing more likely his angry and clearly violent father - who in my opinion isn't fit to be a dad

You just don't know the rules, when Danny flung himself towards the ball he made himself active within the game and could not get his arm out of the way does not come into it, if he had been on his feet in the position where he ended up with his arms by his side and the ball had struck his arm it would have been ball to arm and not a penalty. Just the same with offside a player has to be active to be offside these days. when I started watching football hand ball in the penalty area was a penalty no matter how it occurd.

I've just watched the video and I completely disagree and I did football refereeing for my Duke of Edinburgh award many years ago. The rule is that it's a penalty or a direct free kick if hand plays ball and not if ball plays hand. IMO, Livesey turned his head away before the shot and had absolutely no idea where the ball was when it hit him. He also made no movement to the ball with his hand. He was, in fact, looking towards his own goal when the ball hit him! No argument with the second sending off. A deliberate kick at the player and that's a red card. However, terrible defending for each of the other 3 goals. First could have been cleared by half a dozen players. For the second, the lad who put in the cross went past a defender (I think it was Grand) who looked as though he wasn't moving he was so slow and the last was just dreadful marking at a set piece,

Just seen the highlights now.

How static is our defence at corners?! Watch it again, they simply don't move on both goals!

I'd argue it's you that doesn't know the rules, mate.
Under the latest directive, it is a handball if it is

a) deliberate - this clearly wasn't
b) arm in an unnatural position - arguably, but it wasn't that he'd put his hand up to block it.
c) he had time to get out of the way - definitely didn't.

You can only get sent off for deliberate handball.

It's probably a penalty, but even that's harsh.

Moribund is right.

If we go by Jocks logic everytime a handball occurs then a player should be sent off

Having now watched the highlights thats a very harsh sending off wont say anything about the defending of the other goals except it worries me.

Watch Fofana before the penalty is given. He looks confused. Looks as if he can't figure out how to get the ball at all.

Not adding anything especially new here but having viewed the highlights it was a harsh penalty, but on rare occasions you do see them given and the red car was utterly preposterous, hope he's refereeing in some tinpot league next weekend as punishment.
