He's actually said himself that he has said as much to the board. He is an honest man but he is ambitious and IF Barrow have a good season at this level he will start to get good offers which would give him a salary many times the amount Barrow could ever offer him. Many clubs will want to see how he fares as a Football League manager but if he continues to be successful then he will be a wanted man.
Agreed. I hope we will have him for at least the next season, but if he continues to be successful he will move on sooner rather than later, with our undying gratitude. I hope he will leave an ethos in place and even mentor and develop someone to carry on the good work.
Isnt Taylor doing his coaching badges ? Could he make manager one day after IE moves on ?would have learned a lot from IE

Hi Bolton fan in peace, I'ts pretty certain now that your gaffer or his agent has had talks with Bolton, not sure he's experienced enough for league football, but I'd be happy with his appointment.

Every step now we are going to draw interest from other clubs, be it the Manager or a player, but our reaction to it always frustrates me. We are building something here and the club will pull out the stops to give him the resources to succeed here. Some of these other “bigger clubs” are managerial graveyards, the bigger club doesn't always make it a better career move.

Didn't as a result of the Fylde interest last season IE agree a better and longer contract? And usually, in those circumstances, the manager wants it in writing that he would be free to talk to other clubs if they take an interest and what usually happens then is the club then agree to let him speak to any club who sign an agreement that if they go on to offer him the position they are willing and able to pay the required sum.

I believe the talks with BWFC that have taken place were not with IE but his representative and they were simply to establish the situation re Barrow which means they now know the amount of compensation that would be required and that they would have to agree to pay to simply open talks with IE himself.

It's not exactly a secret how tight cash is at Bolton and how much the Whites group had to extend themselves simply to take control last summer and the fact that their major asset and income generator the hotel will have been haemorrhaging cash as well as the club for the last few months and it's pretty well accepted that cost was one of the reasons for getting rid of KH and DF so that would leave them with two choices if they wanted to appoint IE 1] the cash would have to come out of either his salary offer or out of his budgets 2] The owners would have to find the cash themselves and i.m led to believe is that the amount involved is enough to probably encourage them to look first at possible appointments that wouldn't cost them an amount anywhere near what appointing IE or indeed Ryan Lowe would.

And if you take the above into account don't you think they will take seriously an option which involves appointing an existing employee who they are already paying a wage to but who no longer has an actual job since they disbanded their U23 development squad recently. Ask yourself why at the time didn't they make him redundant with the rest of his staff and then throw into the ring that he is popular with the fans who although they may have been looking for someone more high profile they wouldn't exactly be rioting on the streets of Horwich if he was appointed and who given his background would likely to want to build a squad with youngsters and who wouldn't be knocking on their door wanting to sign half million-pound strikers.

A few years ago I'm sure he would have jumped at the chance of being manager at Bolton but with your current financial state I'm not sure he would take the risk now.

Perhaps it's only me, but I think Ian Evatt would have to be crazy to leave us just right at this moment, whether it was for Bolton, Real Madrid or whoever! I could understand that if we had not been promoted he might well have gone; but now that he has indeed got that platform, back in the FL, why would anyone give up on the chance to create a story to resound across the world of football? Sure, he will want to earn more, for himself and his family, and he hinted at this when mentioning the Fylde approach a few months back. And equally sure, he will fancy himself in charge of a so-called "big" club.

But he is hardly reduced to poverty by being manager of Barrow and he has years and years on his side for "bigger" dreams. So, for the sake of a year or two more here at Barrow, why would anyone give up on the opportunity to create a story to resound throughout the years in football folklore? And, if the unfortunate but appropriate analogy can be forgiven, why let slip, for the sake of just a year or two more, the chance to "Ronnie Radfordise" himself in such a way that his Barrow story could be talked about and talked about and talked about, as legend, for decades to come? The football media have never stopped referring to Radford in the 48 years since his muddy boot shot Hereford up into the League, so Phoenix Evatt could create a story that might likewise be remembered for decades and decades to come, as he takes us back into the FL after our club came close to extinction on several occasions over the period since 1972.

He has loads of time so why would he write himself out of the fairytale in which he could write a chapter or two more yet? Don McEvoy and Vic Halom quit on us after getting us promotions in 1967 and 1984. And they proceeded to achieve nothing else in their managerial careers. I don't see that being the case for Evatt, but the point is that even if he went to a "bigger" club such as Bolton, and even if he turned them around, how could the story ever be more meaningful than the one he might continue to write here at Barrow? It might be bigger salary, bigger club, but it would not be bigger life achievement.

Mcevoy and halom along with plenty of others show taking the first higher league job that's on offer very rarely works out, he has everything to go to the top and choose the right club in the future

Agree with this and this is why it frustrates me with the Barrow fan thinking that every time a “bigger” club comes sniffing that he will go. Yes, one day, but not right now. He’s got the backing of everyone, resources, the club is on the up with massive interest in us with a team here that will set League 2 alight, I’m certain of it. Let’s see where he can take us.

Because history tells you that since the better footballers and managers became incredibly well paid that is what 99.9% of players and mangers do!

He's now 10/11 on odds on favourite, and after hearing he or his agent have spoken to the club, I believe he will be unfolded as our next manager.

Don't believe the bookies odds. Ian would be mad to go to Bolton, they have next to no players,no money and a transfer embargo against them. If he were still alive Paul daniels would be the perfect manager for you🤣

Don't believe people saying we have no money, the consortium are cash rich, just cautious as would be expected during this crisis, we have plenty money men behind us, don't get fooled by people making stuff up.
