Stockton scored goals but sometimes gave the impression of not really being a team player, - workrate out of possession appeared not to be great.

Just for info, the following data on our top seven scorers comes from the Footystats website for league games in 2023-4:
- Kian Spence: 9 goals (1 every 381 minutes) + 6 assists (1 every 572 minutes)
- Ben Whitfield 8 (193) + 4 (383)
- Emile Acquah 8 (300) + 3 (800)
- Cole Stockton 7 (174) + 0
- Dean Campbell 4 (785) + 0
- Dominic Telford 4 (496) + 3 (661)
- Sam Foley 4 (421) + 4 (337)

The stats are interesting. But I’m not sure how relevant they are looking forward. We seem to be in a position atm where we know little about our new manager or his style of playing.

We don’t know the type of players that he may acquire. We don’t even know how the current squad members will fit within his system.

Not surprising then that we spend so much time reviewing the life and times of Pete Wild.

Maybe the open meeting will yield some answers, although he seems to have been very guarded about his style of play.

A quick research will bring up news articles on his coaching career to date, including 13 years alongside Steve Bruce. SC will bring along a new footballing identity, totally different to what we have seen with Pete Wild. Any player who stays will need to adapt to this. Expect to be playing it out from the back and looking to have more possession in games. Hopefully meaningful possession that creates more chances!

If you want a clue as to how we’ll set up then watch the Gillingham game from April, no?

We were rotten that day but they tore us to shreds at time. Plenty of width, fullbacks getting forward etc.

Anyway, we’ll see.

Unfortunately football's not played on paper and, though obviously I didn't see you play, it would appear the partnership was a damp squib.

Didn't we all ?

Would make sense as he was at Gillingham on loan last season when Clemence was there. He wouldn't be the 1st player we've had from Huddersfield.

Would be a quality signing, and a clear shift towards much more attacking football

Would be an unreal signing that he’s some player at this level
