Forgive me but, what is it with people ?. The purse strings have been tightened according to the 'Mail'. What part of that dont people understand. Its going to be make do and mend this coming season. For gods sake,if PC had the money we would have seen something in terms of a new 'build' stand wise at the ground by now !. Forget about Luke James, it aint going to happen-much as ide love it to. Last season it was Guiseley-next season its our turn IMO. Why would it/should it be any different to what I have just said ?.

Well a right ray of sunshine you are. What's wrong with us having a little day dream of days that could be after the season we have just endured? We live in hope.

I do think you either need to get out more or find a new hobby through summer, your negativity is gonna get you down mate. On good information, “tightening of the purse strings” is not treating the players like there playing at championship level,overnight stays every time they have to travel over 10 miles,top meals on away trips and pre match,just a reduction on the over pampering of players playing at 5th tieer football. Dover do away trips up north, Barrow included, on the train , Saturday morning,makes sense really.

No one instinctively likes or applauds what they do, but they have a role to fulfil in this day and age, and a financial incentive for themselves.
The “word” may be that Casson is loaded, and prepared to pay top dollar. The evidence for that is the hyperbole surrounding the FA cup run season before last, and the publicity that went with it.
If I’m honest If I was a professional footballer, with an agent and a wife and maybe a couple of young ones, I can’t see myself immediately wanting to sign for Barrow where there is lots of travelling if there are alternative clubs to sign for.
Like it or not, at first sight we aren’t a fashionable or attractive lower league club. The most attractive feature on a practical basis is that training is near Manchester.
As I see it this is where Pennock is absolutely vital in the next few months. We don’t yet know if he can spot a player, but if he can, his persuasive ability to get someone to sign is so important, irrespective of our location. It also brings Casson in to the picture. How much will he pay?
We all know we could win the league nest year, and we all know we could finish bottom, it’s that kind of competition.

These are apparently and probably rightly, the minimum expectations this close season. The former to cut relocation costs and the latter because...well because that's how it should be.

Of course until the managerial situation is clear (who knows, I don't) we will have to wait. It is fair to say folk are under contract and it's early days but equally Ady had a list of targets he wanted to get in early.

Well said,I find it worrying that Ady was going to speak to players after the season to say who was going to be retained or released but nothing has been annouced
He had a list of players he wanted to recruit depending which league we were going to be in.
As in the past the Manager has stated what he wants s to do in a way forward and it goes quiet .
My worry is Ady leave.

b) Most contracts run until the end of June. Players wind down,go on holiday, then start to worry about contracts for next season.And how do you know that AP hasn't already had prelim' talks with players even before the end of the season. These things can't be rushed otherwise,as we well know,you finish up with sh1t players.

The latest news from the club is that the board believe Pennock is the man to take us forward and that Casson has told him to start making plans for next season.

Casson coming out and saying that we need to be a bit more frugal next season doesn’t mean Pennock shouldn’t be able to put together a competitive side. In fact that is what a good manager should be able to do. Macclesfield managed to do it and in the words of their manager- targeted players “who just want to go out there and get the job done”. Over the years we’ve had plenty of players who fit that bill, the job for Pennock is to go out and bring them all together for Barrow. Players who will give 100% every game. That team will forge a togetherness with fans and will make Holker Street once again a nightmare for away teams. Missing too often last season and needs to be sorted out.

We should go for Luke James, he fits the bill and of the sort of player we need. 100% every game. If Pennock can convince him he can put together that battling, competitive side and he wants him to be part of it.

If you are going to get rid of people because they are not up to it and there contract is up in a few weeks why not do it now.,what is the benefit of keeping them?
How many sasons have we left it to the last minute and signed stars such as Ritchie Baker or Leo Bertos

Not sure we can just release players without paying them off?
