Bit of a scatter gun approach to recruitment .... if we sign 10 strikers we are bound to get a good 'un. Said no-one ever!

No. It's a valid point but the midfield shouldn't be expected to cover up the attacking deficiencies. Goals from midfield are a bonus but the main goals should be from attacking players. Other than Spence who is well down on last season we don't have any attacking midfield players. Gotts will never score many goals and Campbell is playing more or less as a holding midfield player since White was released.
Another valid point would be that if after around half of the season over, if the midfielders mentioned had scored half of the goals that they did over the whole of last season, Barrow may have up to eighteen further points by now. Realistically, it may have been eight points or so. You know how many points have been dropped by the odd goal.
