Yep, I remember one bitter Tuesday night match at Emley. Or I should say I remember freezing my extremities and other parts off at one bitter Tuesday night match at Emley, Don't remember anything about the game, suspect it was probably a 0-0 draw.Suffolk Blue wrote: ↑Sat Jun 13, 2020 12:40 pm Getting half frozen to death and snowed on in a late season visit to Emley's three sided ground (which should've been named Ice Station Zebra) right next to the Emley Moor telecommunications mast was quite memorable.
Our away game ritual pretty much always took in fish 'n' chips and a couple of pints before the match. The chippie across the road from Altrincham's ground was always decent, and there's a good one in Borehamwood, but I can't really remember any more of the good ones. It's the poor ones that stick in the mind: one on the high street in Salisbury, the day Greg Blundell scored with his nuts; Grimsby - two chippies directly opposite each other: we chose the wrong one; but worst of all, Woking: I saw Suffolk Blue outside the station and we decided to go to the pub. He wisely chose the hot pot or some such, while I went for my traditional F&Cs. Flat, grey, undercooked, just awful. Should've gone to the Pizza Hut with Prince Andrew.
