Maybe he said keep it under yer hat. And Wintergreen’s hat is made from a old Quality Street container..

PAul Hornby mentions this in his interviews doesn't he? About accommodation for BAE etcolbarrafancumbak wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 5:33 pmSounds amazing and would be even more amazing if it were to happen!Wintergreen wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 5:07 pm After watching Paul Hornby’s recent interviews, I was reminded of this brief encounter from last year. From time to time I meet a guy in the Holker End who I’ve known for donkey’s years. We usually have a brief chat about affaires d’AFC and occasionally he will offer a snippet for me to keep to myself. These snippets in the past have included both the arrival and departure of Paul Casson, telling me to bet on us winning the Covid league, the departure of Ian Evatt, a roof for the HSE, the arrival of Dom Telford and a few more. At first I would reply to these fanciful predictions with a blunt ‘No chance’ or ‘You’re having a laugh’ but time would always prove him right. Towards the end of last season, one exchange went as follows:
“Keep this to yerself - the owners are looking at plans to build a hotel along the Pop Side, curving right round to the Steelworks End. It is to help make the club more sustainable for the future”.
Once again I was both intrigued and amused; of all the bombshells he had previously dropped this one seemed the most outrageous. Only time will tell with this one of course, but I know this integrated hotel configuration is working at Blackpool, Bolton and a few other clubs now so maybe this is also feasible at Barrow? BAE are attracting hundreds of specialists, contract personnel, service providers, consultants, company reps, Government people, MoD people, Navy people, Russian spies etc. and where better to stay than right on the A590? The club seems to have good relations with BAE so maybe it will be a case of build it and they will come?
works for other clubs, why not ours? A multi use facility/ground is what's needed no matter what league your in. See what happens going forward???

He mentions that BAE are using the clubs current facilities more and more for conferences etc a figure of £1000 a week when used was mentioned which is great. Some folk criticise BAE saying they should do more financially to help us in way of sponsorship and the reasons they can't are well documented but paying Barrow AFC to use their facilities benefits both parties.Big E wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 7:50 pmPAul Hornby mentions this in his interviews doesn't he? PH did refer to the Pop Side as a possible location for development which would include hospitality boxes, referencing Leyton Orient (and, IIRC, another club with accommodation alongside the ground) and, as Big E notes, the ongoing appetite for BAe-based accommodation.

Re: Potential new investor(s)
I doubt when the old Debenhams is totally refurbished BAE will be using the clubs facilities as much. Obviously I hope I’m wrong as it’d be a big hit for the club to lose financially going forward.Main Stand SeasonTct wrote: ↑Fri Mar 14, 2025 8:05 pmHe mentions that BAE are using the clubs current facilities more and more for conferences etc a figure of £1000 a week when used was mentioned which is great. We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Could it potentially be Georgia Stanway?

It will probably be one of those online influencers that I’ve never heard of. A multi millionaire from kids watching him play Fifa.

Re: Potential new investor(s)
Had a look at the top 32 UK owned businesses trading in the USA. Had heard of virtually none of them never mind their owners.
If this were someone trying to build a brand in the UK why would anybody already have heard of them ?

I think all of the band members of Metallica are American, so doesn't tie in with him being a Brit.Sea Dog Sam wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 7:24 pm It's a member of the rock band known as Metallica, apparently.

Hopefully whoever it is thinks it’s worth branching out with us.
