Barrow v hartlepool utd match thread

I wish I'd recorded what I heard as I left the ground last night so AP could play it to the players. A Hartlepool supporter said to his mates “they were shit"....sums it up really.

Setting up at home against a team that is happy with a point imo isn't acceptable even if we were unchanged from the win at the weekend. I think we will just have enough to stay up but its not gonna be pretty to watch. McDonald and L.James are the only ones imo that deserve some credit but by god Asa hall offers nothing.

I could count on the fingers of two hands how many matches I've missed at HS since 1962 . . . but a long-standing engagement means I will miss the Dover game on Saturday . . . but the most shameful thing is that I feel so-o-o-o glad that I won't be there. It's a terrible thing to say, I know, but anything else would be less than truthful. And if we fail to win that one I reckon it will mean we have gone five months (November through March) without a home league victory and stattos can tell me if we have ever "achieved" that before in our entire history (yes, even during the darkest days between 1972 and 1976).

Agree with some of the earlier comments, including the one by Keiron who criticised the normally impressive Macdonald for shooting when he could have put Waterson in, when in acres of space to his right. I also think it's OTT to pick out Makoma when he played the one class pass of the night in setting up our goal. It's shocking to think that if we have players of the season I can only think of the now departed loan star (Dunne) and, after him, the loanee Luke James, who has played only a handful of games for us, with the aforementioned loanee Macdonald coming in in third place.

The second half was difficult to believe, in that I am not sure we got over the half way line for about the first thirty minutes. Hartlepool ran rings around us without being anything special themselves. The keeper is probably good (on the whole) but he has to be slaughtered for last night.

To think that exactly 10 years ago we had a team, admittedly at a lower level, who gave us one of the greatest moments in our history by playing as a team and a club totally united. Just compare this shambles now . . .

Well put Paul... I'm normally an optimist and was confident we would turn this around and push to safety.. after last night I'm not so sure now.. we looked like a team that had no reslience at all when put under the slightest pressure.
Every game us now a cup final to use an old cliche, and don't know if we have the stomach for a battle....

This season has been a mess 3 manangers , some horrendous players gracing the pitch at holker street and yusseff going to a relegation rival regardless wether he was good or bad during his time with us absolute madness. Utter tosh. How Ben bauress gets a game is beyond me waste of a jersey along with his side kick captain marvel. We have a side of chinless wonders I will back them on the pitch but by christ pennock needs to put a nasa sized rocket up there arses. Would not be surprised to see a lot of these so called footballers drop out of the pro game next season!!!!!!!! Starting front 3 were passable last night. Waterstone hustles and bustles. Waters runs direct and James does what he does. How on earth Grant holt is picking up a playing wage is beyond me. Hang your boots up for gods sake man. Seen more mobile light houses on the cumbrian coast.

Kingsley James did reasonably in the first half against Hartlepool but it would be wrong to criticise his second half performance because he wasn't on the pitch. At least I didn't see him . . . along with most of the side . . .
