He may or may not be the highest paid player, but he’s definitely the worst. I had to leave before the end when he missed another sitter for fear of self combustion. I don’t think I’ve done that before over 50 yrs even when we’ve been thrashed. Yes Oldham parked the bus and with Hutton out we had no penetration down the right. However, after
8 FL games without a goal in open play, if we don’t start scoring we will go down . Simples.

I really hope so. Whenever he comes on it feels like we are down to 10 men

That’s an insult to the NL, he is by far THE worse player I have ever seen in 35 years of following Barrow. An absolute joke of a footballer and if we are paying him what I’ve seen elsewhere on social media it’s another example of our poor showing both on and off the field since being in the EFL. He’s cost us ample points this season, other squad players must secretly loath him his work rate is a disgrace let alone his ability.

I have just watched Copper's post-match interview and he is right to point out that we created 4 or 5 chances and went very close to scoring at least 3 times - Jone's deflected shot clawed away, Brough's header headed off the line and the shot tipped onto the post in second half. At the other end Farman never had to make a save. He also admitted we had several players "off it" and that Gotts was injured before kick off and still wanted to play.
All that being said in mitigation, I still feel there is more wrong than just lack of a striker. The team played without fear against Ipswich, swift inter-passing and movement, getting at them and never giving them a moment to settle. Yet against Oldham, all that confidence, movement and intensity had gone missing. Is it all in the mind? Does the team think (against Ipswich): "notthing to lose, we can go for it", whilst against a club they should beat, it is all about "must not make a mistake"? The 'walking football' played in the second half was really bad and frustrating to watch. Brown, for all his commitment and defensive qualities, drove me to despair. He gets the ball in their half, I am crying out for him to take on the man and get forward to make a cross, but he plays it back every time. On the other flank, Kay did get a few crosses in, but too often was robbed by a firm tackle. The long ball tactic from Grayson to Gordon in the first half was also really bad. Was that playing to instructions?
I am sure I have heard Cooper speak in the past about 'taking care of the bal' and also about 'looking to play forward'. Both these elements were conspicuous by their absence last night.

This is the thing that frustrates me the most, how we never seem to put a game on infront of the big crowds (with a few exceptions). Our product is awful and it’s it’s a wonder how we’ve continued to get between 2 and 3k at home.Rtw6095 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 10:24 pm I brought 2 mates and their 4 kids to Holker St for the first time tonight. Safe to say I won't even bother asking them to come back for the Bradford game. Worst game I've seen this season and Zanzala is not a league player by anyones standards. The team looked lost going forward and that is purely down to a League football team playing with absolutely ZERO strikers.

To be honest if it's only 2 we're F*****d we need two decent striker's if we don't try to get quality in we're doomed we could also do with a decent wide player to bring pace to the attack and it's ridiculous that when banks is missing we have no one to step up .Bombadel wrote: ↑Thu Dec 30, 2021 9:53 am MC interview, 2 out 2 in possibly in January

Cooper has got us scared to be inventive it's alright keeping the ball but all of this time only gives the opposition time to get back in defence, to play this way the ball has to be moved quickly if not you get displays like last night I'm still annoyed now but is it the players have lost confidence in themselves or IN COOPER ( jury's out on that one )
Re: Barrow v Oldham match thread
Very unlikely. With their financial clout they are looking at anything below the Championship. Names like Norwood and Tshimanga are being bandied about.

If no one wants him, why would he leave for a drop in salary when he has a contract paying him 90k a year?
Re: Barrow v Oldham match thread
Josh Kay cut a frustrated figure last night. Time and again in space down that left hand side but we were far too slow in getting the ball out to him and he had to come back to the half way line countless times to get a pass. Could no one see him!!!. It’s no good him getting the ball there there’s with too much to do. We were going wide with the ball far too early.

Re: Barrow v Oldham match thread
I haven’t seen all games this season but the games I have seen, the sideways and backwards passing just seems to be the norm. It’s dreadful to watch.
For me I think Kay needs to start.

everyone is entitled to their opinion, deal with it
Re: Barrow v Oldham match thread
Folk with short memories. We struggled under Evatts teams to break side down that came and parked the bus, so this is nothing new. Let's be patient, see what January brings before we start losing our heads completely!!

Re: Barrow v Oldham match thread
Been reading what the FGR chairman said when they sacked Cooper, - article below - despite them being in a play-off position with just a few games to go.
Seems they didn't like the style of play that he had adopted and it looks like he's brought that style to Barrow.
I hope I'm wrong and the signings he makes in January propel us up the table away from the. danger zone, but I have my doubts. Everyone is going on about the lack of a striker and that is true just as it is for many teams but we will have to pay top dollar to get one in this transfer window.
Fact is if Oldham had had a good front man last night they would have won.

I used to like Kay in our NL days but apart from scoring the odd decent goal I think he’s been poor since promotion.
