I've been wondering about John Oliver's Last Week Tonight programme. They have been involved in various stunts, spending a lot of HBO's money to make a point about political issues. Buying a club of Barrow's size wouldn't be beyond their means. I wonder if they have a vision about doing something that would open up a debate about money in football before the 2026 World Cup?

Maybe a bit of a stretch but it fits with some of the other descriptions.

I Googled 'British born celebrity based in the US with clothing brand' and the name that came up is Tan France. I have no idea who that is.

The point is they aren’t known in the UK

What they are wanting out of the deal is to get into the UK market to get their name and their brand a bit of exposure

What the club are wanting is to get more exposure across the pond which this person whoever they may be would bring

We should be off to a good start; we both call it soccer and don't look down our noses at it's use!

Keep making the point Adam and some might eventually get it.

Although it does pose a few questions about why the club’s owners might want to improve our profile in the US when it could be argued that our profile in the UK is not exactly spectacular. Hmmm wonder why that might be?

I think an association with a fashion brand would be quite good and I’m wondering whether the new line in BAFC underpants in the club shop is a bit of a clue. Alexander MacQueen come on down! Looking forward to Barrow Fashion week in 2026

It’s not going to be him. He’s well known both here and in America. It won’t be someone that famous. It won’t be an actor or someone in the music industry. I don’t think so anyway.

Plus Hunnam doesn’t have his own fashion brand - he’s being used as a model for one that is already existing

I find Adam's knowledge of fashion brands and fashionistas in general, laudable. Research clearly being done.

I must be getting old though. As well as doing most of my shopping at TK Maxx. Who the hell is Charlie Hunnam?

Adam and Paul Hornby should get together and play that game where the name of the celeb is secretly written on a yellow post-it note which is then secured to Adam's forehead. Adam then has to ask a series of questions to try and identify the superstar. Would be a good item for RC.

As an aside, is there a name for that game?

The modern version of that game (replace the post it note with a smartphone) is called heads up.

Twenty questions. Though I suppose the number can be varied.
