His best game for us by far. A great lay off for our second and an absolute stunning header for the fourth. Made up for him.

He did have a good game and Brown alluded to his team training arrangements have improved and he can work with him more now. He certainly showed some good hold up play and strength and he was closing down a lot more. Different manager comes in and its a fresh slate for all of them.

Think hold up play has been good overall since he arrived, and he’s been getting some harsh criticism. But one noticeable thing today he wasn’t trying to milk fouls and stayed on his feet a lot more. Got on with his job and thankfully reaped his reward with a well taken forth goal. Hopefully he will continue in the same vain for the remainder of the season as he’s a crucial part of this team.

The most telling thing for me was the way the rest of the team mobbed him for his goal. Great togetherness and a show of support for an under pressure player.

Neither of them nor any other strikers we have are good enough. It's by far the worst part of the team all season and, if we stay up, we must get better strikers if we want to avoid another struggle next season.

I suggest you google the goal scoring feats of Gordon and Holloway at their previous clubs. Check out their goals scored for each season. You're in for a shock! Some defenders have better goal scoring records. They'll both need more than luck and confidence, fella. A minor miracle maybe? It is Easter after all... You never know?

Strikers who cannot score don't get picked up by professional clubs mate ... they must have shown something at some time to have enough potential to be spotted by scouts ...and then to have been given trials , maybe an apprenticeship ...and ultimately gone on to earn a full time contract ...That doesn't happen if you have no ability . These guys were probably outstanding when they were playing in school and junior football. They have it in them to score goals ...they must have scored goals in the past to be signed up as strikers ... that is all I am saying ... and if they , or someone else , can re-ignite that belief .... and begin to play with more self-confidence ...the goals will come ...

If (as looks a lot more likely now) we do stay up we HAVE to recruit better this summer. Looks likely two massive clubs will come up from the National League, and no real basket cases coming down from League One and of those 6 clubs the majority are likely to be northern clubs, competition for players will be tougher than ever

Yeah agree he hasn’t been a show stopper, not sure if you saw the interview with PB, but apparently the port vale boss came to see him after the game as said Holloway was unplayable at times. Imo his hold up play would warrant a permanent move, but we still need a 15-20 goal season striker to really push on next season

Completely agree.
Although we had a good team under Evatt, we still wouldn't have been promoted without the over 40 goals from Quigley and Rooney and we would certainly have been relegated last season without the goals from Quigley.
We have the basis of a decent team but must get a striker who will manage 10 to 15 goals in a season.
