Have to agree fully with Adam here, that post is embarrassing Mal. “ A challenger within” get a grip man, it’s 2 football teams 80 miles apart, radio Cumbria sport, Adam, John,from this end Paul , James and Chris from the north all do a fantastic job, we all have preferences, so what, enjoy the coverage we get!

Radio Cumbria do not have some anti Barrow agenda that some on here seem to think; Adam genuinely tries his best to get Barrow interaction by fans calling/texting in and sometimes it just doesn’t happen, what can they do in that case?
The only thing I massively disagree with Radio Cumbria on is when they try to make out Carlisle are operating on some sort of shoestring budget, and then you look at the squad and the management team and think pigs might fly if that’s a cheap budget

I agree with the above.
The whole impoverished team, cobbled together by good old Simmo really grates- as if we somehow had a big pot of cash!
No way would Paul Simpson have stopped if there hadn't been at least some finance available. He'd have been on a hiding to nothing. And I've nowt against Carlisle or Radio Cumbria really, except over usage of eh at the end of a sentence.

Not the slightest bit embarrased. I stand by what I have said. I listen to sportsnight every tuesday, friday and aftermatch discussion and some times the bias is all to evident when a certain two people drop their guard though I always get the impression that Lumsden is quite impartial and is just purely football analytical.

RC do a great job covering Cumbria sports, If we were still in Lancashire we would not get full coverage home and away. As previously mentioned sometimes no one contacts Adam with their thoughts so there is not much debate around the game where as Carlisle fans are more vocal.
Pre us being in the same league as Carlisle, I used to listen to their results and was glad to hear they had won especially against southern teams.
Listening to Walshy at Workington is great entertainment however you tune in thinking they are winning and playing like Barcelona and then find out they are 4-1 down!!

Well, you are exactly correct. Radio Cumbria certainly do not have an anti-Barrow agenda but that fact alone doesnt legislate for its Carlisle base and staff.
As far as the CUFC budget goes-my brother in law who lives in Carlisle says its common knowledge up there that the football club hadn't got a pot to p!s in and took on more debt to satisfy Simpson.

I think part of the 'argument' about Radio Cumbria is that it used to be known as Radio Carlisle until the BBC opened up a studio in Barrow - Radio Furness - which concentrated on the south of Cumbria. This was eventually closed down, and people felt they weren't getting the coverage they had before - sport and none sport - when it was covered by their headquarters in Carlisle.
Having said that I think Barrow still gets its fair share of sports coverage.

Oh I couldnt agree more, the Barrow coverage is very good indeed to what a lot of clubs outside the county recieve and I for one am gratefull for that.

The BBC has said that sport won't be affected, although long term, like you, I feel that local radio itself is on the slippery slope.
Really pi@@es me off when I see Gary Lineker trousering £1.35M per year.
Local radio has some sports commentators with far more talent than he will ever have. There are several other examples of the beeb overpaying their staff.
The licence fee is due to be abolished in 5 years, and sadly I think local radio stations will be gone by then.
