Scott Quigley is in America & has packed in football. He’s in partnership with his other half who is a top real estate seller in Seattle and now having a child .. I don’t think he is going to be back at Holker St anytime soon…Jonty wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 4:41 pm If Quigley is match fit and available at low risk then he could be worth a punt. We need options. We don’t have that sort of player in the squad and haven’t since he left. He can manage centre half’s and the big games and was a popular player here. If anything it would give us a boost.

Ahh righto. When someone said released i thought that might mean he was looking for a club. We had the best of him in that free flowing Evatt side so I guess it was a nostalgic thought.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

A bit dramatic we have only played 2 games. I question the mentality and this little barrow self pitying nonsense

Have you and Pedro ever thought of doing some motivational speakingmall wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 1:08 pm"The present team at best will keep us up with alot of draws and few wins." Thats wishful thinking, really dont think so.Pedro wrote: ↑Sun Aug 10, 2025 1:01 pm
Not sure he had Rooney with him last time .
Not sure if you can bring players in and if he could do something like pay per goal. with a basic flat rate of wage for six months with option for longer
All I know we need a forward and I would say a decent midfielder.
Money of course is the problem but we need to get some wins or the attendance will drop.
The present team at best will keep us up with alot of draws and few wins.

Early days.
But a goal would be lovely.

People wanting us to re-sign Scott Quigley; football is well and truly back
Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Being a realist is not always preferable but no doubt you though the Titanic was unsinkable.
We all noticed during the friendlies we struggled to score against league clubs buoyed by the defeat the European Champions HOB.
It's a continuation of ignoring the obvious.
Need a centre forward and a midfielder .

It’s two games in pal and maybe with a bit of belief from the manager and players and playing to our strengths we might have got something from those games. Instead it’s the same old know who we are nonsense. The club operates like it’s in the north west counties league

Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Bingo.......You need to get real. We have a bottom half budget in League 2 the manager is only being realistic. To think we can compete with the likes of Chesterfield and MK Dons over a season is for the birds. We are a mid to low table league 2 team who aspires to go higher but without massive invstment that aint going to happen. No good setting aspirations high and talk like that only to fall flat on your face you ned to keep it real and that exactly what the manager is doing.Bingo wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 11:47 am It’s two games in pal and maybe with a bit of belief from the manager and players and playing to our strengths we might have got something from those games. Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
I think Bingo is referring to the way the manager talks the team down all the time.
You're right about facing up to reality but being positive breeds positivity and being negative breeds negativity.
No matter how hard the task you have to believe that you can do it. That goes for things in life other than football as well.
If the manager keeps talking about 'little old Barrow' that's what we will become.
Mr Whing - think POSITIVE, no matter how hard the task may be.

Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
Personally I took the managers views as being realistic not at all negative. Unfortunately the expectations of some supporters are not realistic given our finances and infrastructure.bluessupporter wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 12:37 pm I think Bingo is referring to the way the manager talks the team down all the time.

Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
I think the manager struck a perfectly reasonable balance in his interview, optimistic but tempered by reality. Some people on here seem to think we'd be in the Premier League if only we believed more.
Re: Barrow v MK DONS match thread
I'm not saying we won't improve - the chances are that under Whingy we will - but on Saturday we were dreadful, its as simple as that.
