Alan Layton

Just wanted to say I met Alan Layton yesterday and he is still going strong despite suffering a stroke some years ago and is now 83. He lives is North Vancouver and still has many cuttings of his time with Bolton W. and BAFC in the fifties. We talked about old times of D. Renshaw, Jack Hindle, Jack Keen, Jimmy Collins Andy McLaren etc. He proudly has the books by D Gardener (sp?) on display. He was playing on the wing when I was still at school but a regular at Holker Street.
Steve in Vancouver for a few days.

I remember him. Played right wing (7) I think. You must be in your early 70s then T/S? ;)

Thanks for that, Steve, a great little post. Although Alan is before my time and I therefore have no recollections of him I still enjoy picking up on news of players from our past. It's good to know that he still retains an interest in the club and seems to have such good memories of his time at Holker Street. Darren Gardner must be pleased that his good works are picked up and enjoyed by players from long ago and thousands of miles away.
