Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
Hyde United- Their first season in this league and they have lost their appetite. They are in free fall having only taken 4 points from their last 10 games. They will go down
Alfreton town-Poor recent form although they thrashed Hyde this week, still only 2 wins from last 10 games. Support falling away- last home gate 476.
Lincoln City- They have only won one of their last ten games and are perilously close to relegation. Recently parted company with manager David Holdsworth. Fans were hoping for a big name replacement- there was talk of ex Hull boss Phil Brown taking over. Instead they have got Gary Simpson who effectively got Macclesfield relegated from the football league last season- he was sacked this time last year after a run of 16 games without a win! Hardly a manager to inspire confidence. Still recovering from losing their football league status they have big financial problems as well
Gateshead-In big trouble as they cannot play their home games in Gateshead. They are facing a fixture pile up- with 16 games left to play they will have to play 3 games in a week at some stage to complete the season. It will also cost them financially with less income and more to splash out. Also have poor recent form with only 2 wins out of 10.
Lets be upbeat about the remainder of the season. We will stay up!!
Just for the record we have better recent form than all the above teams with 3 wins from 10.

Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
I still don't think we can do it...but if we are to stay up 3 points tomorrow is a must
Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
Gateshead are certs for relegation in my opinion, just got to hope we start turning the draws into wins and the losses into draws. still confident we can get out of the bottom four as there are worse teams than us down at the wrong end of the table.

Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
The teams below us have big problems too - Telford have just 3 points from the last 10 games, and Ebbsfleet have severe financial difficulties because too few of their 'owners' have renewed their subscriptions.

And Telford have just lost Cooper their manager......
Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
It doesn't really matter what troubles other clubs have. At the end of the day it will boil down to which clubs can get the most points in their remaining games. Obvious but true. We HAVE to start getting some points - simple as that.

Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
TLCW good post, agree with your sentiment but not all of your comments about the 4 sides you've listed. They are all in the throws of making changes to their team and/or management in order to stay up. We have already made changes and that is probably why we have slightly better form at the moment. We are still sadly behind them all and some of them are already showing signs of improvement.
Lincoln were a bit unlucky the other night against Mansfield losing to a 90th minute winner while playing against a better side with 10 men for the last half-hour. They were rather poor the other week and their own fans are talking about the drop. They are likely to splash out and sign a few loan players before the run in to bolster things. Everything does seem to be going wrong for them at the moment and they do look like they are heading down, should those around them improve.
Alfreton's new signing are paying dividends, think Alan Martin for us a few seasons ago . Their new keeper from Sunderland kept out an onslaught from Hyde. Much like Nuneaton's new Convetry City keeper kept us out long enough to snatch a result the other week. While one of their new forwards got a hat trick and his substitute got on the score sheet as well. They have made changes and they are settling in.
Gateshead don't really have money problems as they are still signing players. Even if their millionaire owner has allegedly given up on financing a future football league Gateshead, he is not letting the team die. Not that they really need new signings as they do have a good side, but it has massively under performed. Their demolition of Macclesfield 4-0 at Moss Rose the other week demonstrates quite easily the kind of results they could clock up should the side start to click. Macc took them for granted and paid heavily.
Hyde being in trouble is there for all to see. If the 4 teams directly behind them (Lincoln, Gateshead, Nuneaton and Barrow) could win their game in hand, Hyde would be in the bottom 4. However they have signed Tom Anderson and Louis Almond. Both have played for Barrow this season and are very capable. Couple that with Fleetwood midfielder Jamie Milligan coming in today (Fri), they may be able to change things around very soon.
It's all to fight for and some positive thoughts are coming out and why not, but like barrowfan says, it is all about the points. At the moment all these teams are better off, because if no one picks up any points between now and season end, we will go down. I think Barrow can stay up but they have to keep putting in the performances and start taking chances in front of goal. The fans also need to show their appreciation for the effort by the players like they did on Tuesday, we lost but they were applauded at the end after a good performance. They will respond to such support. Other sides are going to start collecting points, so tomorrow Tamworth must die, at least by 1 goal. We can do it.

Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
Jamie Milligan is a good siging for them
End of the day its time for the 'great effort' 'played well without winning' etc etc stuff to end, we simply have to win tomorrow

Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
I think as long as Boyes is absent we are going to struggle to score goals and get points. His injury is a massive blow to our chances as the 4-51 is toothless and McEvilly isn't worth a starting position in 4-4-2. It seems this season that every time it looks as tho problems are sorted, another one crops up. As soon as we get Boyes back, Sodje's loan will expire and then we will have solved an attacking problem but have another (potential) defensive one.

Re: Four Teams Above Us Who Have Big Problems
It has been that sort of season - every time things seem to be looking up there is another set back - eg what happened after Luton and Newport? As the man said - cheer up, things could be worse, so I cheered up and sure enough, things got worse.barrowfan wrote:Is it being so cheerful that keeps you going Jim?Jim wrote:I think as long as Boyes is absent we are going to struggle to score goals and get points. Tom Anderson stretchered off on Tuesday night with possible cruciate knee injury and Agent Almond has received his instructions!
Get well soon Tom.
