A.G.M Notices

Hi Everyone,

As was mentioned on another thread, I have been going round on my bike this week delivering the notices for the A.G.M in a few weeks.

I have managed to do Walney and most of Barrow, though I still have the Hawcoat area to do, which I will be doing tomorrow.

There have been a few that I couldn't find, or missed and I will take them to the club tomorrow and I am sure they will be available to collect on Saturday, if not they will be posted out to you.

Exile who donated very generously to the MA Fund took a good handful of letters to deliver around Ulverston and notices for Dalton, Askam and further afield will be posted as well. Holkerbird has delivered several notices too, so thanks to them both.

If you are concerned you haven't received your notice and live in Barrow, feel free to PM me and I will let you know if I have it or if I couldn't find your address etc.

With the costs of stamps, hand delivering these letters (Just over 200) has saved over 100 pounds so it just goes to show what can be done with volunteers.

Well done Ryan. We will do the last ones tomorrow. Not only has he delivered them but he also wrote the amended date of the AGM on the back of all the envelopes. He did 26 miles on his first delivery. Some holiday this has been.

Yep, I mentioned about this in a previous thread a couple of months ago.
As well as AGM notices this could also be done for things such as Christmas/Grand National raffle tickets and other things that often gets sent out to members by post when the club could save money by getting volunteers to deliver them and save on the cost of postage.
Ryan has done a cracking job in delivering the number he has but I think for other times of the year when Ryan isn't here we'd only need 1 or 2 volunteers for each district of Barrow/Dalton/Ulverston to get several hundred delivered free of charge. Reckon we could save around £200 each time but could we actually persuade the board to let volunteers to do it though, such is the utter contempt and lack of trust many of them have in us?

I received mine by post in far flung Yorkshire and there was a note asking for my e mail address for future correspondence. If everyone can supply their e mail, it will save any more need to do the rounds on a bike - except for raffle tickets I suppose.

Any regular reader of this forum might be under the impression that the club consistently refuses the help of volunteers such as yourself yet you have managed to make yourself very useful. I suspect a lot of offers to volunteer for the club are just hot air.

Any volunteers who would be willing to regularly deliver the above notices and tickets please contact me at bafcdirect@yahoo.co.uk with the area you are prepared to deliver to and your offer WILL be taken up.

Please contact me and I will compile a volunteers list ready for the next time delivery is required.

It would be great if we could have say 10-20 volunteers all doing different areas of Barrow (which area of the town), Walney, Dalton, Askam, Roose, Ulverston, Millom, etc, etc

I look forward to receiving all such offers as it will save the club many £££££'s each year.

They only refuse help if the area of help peeps are volunteering for might give them a peek into the way the BoD operate financially, that's the problem.
