Now, at the end of the Gainsborough game I heard two fans going to many of the Barrow players "Where is your [SwearFilter] heart?!" With McMillan and Harvey arguing back. Disasterous to watch. But lets be honest, where is OUR heart? We can fault the players for not trying, but where is our cheer? Where is the supposed 'Barrow Ultras'? They don't exist anymore. There is barely a squeak of chanting other the occasional "Come on Barrow!" Passed around the ground. When we played Staylbridge I spoke to some fans of theirs and they said they never really heard a peep from us and I'm afraid to say, I agree with them. If you see anyone chanting, get behind them, create an atmosphere. Make Barrow AFC roar and show we're not dead yet. :flag:

It's plain and simple, get behind the team AND whatever manager we end up with. I'll admit, I'm not the loudest, but I do my fair share of chanting and the only additions I get are my mates that come with me. One of my friends said she isn't coming to Barrow games as she can't the terrible atmosphere. Wake up! Everyone can moan about the club as much as they want, but it won't get any better standing there like a mouse.

To be honest ive not been that embarrassed at a football match for many years . the team didnt deserve chants . and were you their to witness that disgraceful display , i like many left the ground with 20 mins to go.i will go to trophy game and really hope the new manager can turn this around . good luck to him he will need it

Yep, I was at the game. It was awful to sum up. Simply awful. But there hasn't been 'chanting' from Barrow in many weeks. We don't have too much to chant about, but lets make the atmosphere better.

first and foremost the team has to play in a way to get the fans going. Give us something to cheer and ive no doubt the fans will respond.

In my experience the critical factor in the ‘atmosphere’ at Barrow fixtures is drink. Last week the travelling support at Chester were in fine voice and came over very well on the radio. No doubt a few of Chester’s boozers were visited before kickoff with the supporters arriving at the ground in high spirits, that’s what I love about away days.

However, at home games I set off walking at 2:30 and rarely have a pre-match snifter; consequently I am in my normal morose mode and not in high spirits and overly vocal. However, as next Saturday is a watershed for the club, I am getting our little crew together early doors to have a few, watch Man City v Arsenal (a corker 12: 45 ko) and arrive at the ground in high spirits and ready to roar the lads on. Perhaps other supporters might also like to adopt this approach for next Saturday? Will the City game be on in the Crossbar anybody? Please drink sensibly.

I'm afraid it is no coincidence that the noise from the terraces has reduced as the performances on the pitch have worsened. This isn't a recent phenomena, following Barrow AFC in non league has always been a rollercoaster ride of incredible highs (FA trophies FA cups etc promotions) and dreadful lows ( relegation, administration dreadful managers, etc) Not long ago th eteam/ club gave us lots to shout about, in a positive sense. Now the noises we make a reflective of the current situation, one of disgust and disbelief at our fall from grace. It will change, when I don't know.

I agree in part.

But, quite frankly, I have had enough of trying at HS. As a group UB gave it their best shot, but we never cracked the home games really. There were also problems of one kind or another which we needn't go over.

I think now there are two pretty disparate groups of youngsters who need to take it on. The first lot (16-19) are well known to the older lads and travel to games, but there are also others, a bit younger (12-15), and a couple of whom...well.. who hang about together. They, and the kids that stand down the front and appear to be waiting for something to happen need to get together, not just to shout 'tosser' at the keeper and random embarrassing rubbish.

I went to Motherwell vs Aberdeen with a few folk from Barrow and all agreed the Motherwell section was excellent given the size of their support. They have a group of young lads, some started very young, and for a couple of years as they grew together we all laughed at them. Not so much now. Not everyone will agree and no doubt there will be the usual nonsense, mostly from middle aged guys who don't sing at all, about what people have always done, not done etc at Holker St but it's time for the younger lads to crack on in the way they want.

That is partly true.

Yet look at the sides above us, yes all of them, and look at some of the shocking gates. Some of them are playing good football and achieving a much higher standard than Barrow AFC at this current time. So although I agree with you in part, self motivation should be every footballers drive.
