Decent performance and they are getting better. Still a bit shaky at the back, giving it away in silly positions and putting themselves under pressure. Mostly from trying to play football on a sticky surface and waiting too long to release the ball, some weak passes hit. Had to clear it off the line a couple of times but McMillan did not have to make a real save until almost the end of the game.

Barrow broke out with Cribley looking up and seeing Rushden making a run. His excellent long ball came down in front of Rushden outside the box but defender May was in the way. Facing his own goal he went to kick the ball into touch only to loose his standing foot. He fell over leaving Rushton clean through on goal, 1-0. The Workington fans on the Holker Street End exchanged words with Rushton and and one of them was eventually ejected as he would not calm down, even with other Workington supporters trying to pull him away from his confrontation with the police and stewards. Rushton had been getting a bit of abuse previously after he hit a ten yard shot over the bar from an excellent Cribley cross from the right. He also had the ball taken off him after a run the length of the Workington half by the previously impeccable May. The goal and celebration right in front of the away fans a bit much for one of them.

Excellent build up play down the left and a ball on the deck into Cribley looked like the shot. He turned, held it up and layed it off to Lacey about 25 yards out, who struck a rocket of a shot into the far top right leaving Simpson no chance. At 2-0 about half the Workington fans left before the end of the game. They missed McMillans excellent save diving full stretch to his right to keep the score at 2-0 in added time.

Good result and some neat football being played at times. We need to keep Rushton on board he is a constant threat and has scored a fair number of goals this season. Workington look like they seriously need someone up front, Jackson was the only real threat but was bogged down in build up play when they came forward instead of on the end of chances. They looked slow compared to Rushton and Cribley at the back and were constantly beaten in the full back positions.

Well done lads.

A Workington fan let off a flare/smoke bomb in the 2nd and a number of people seemed to be taken outside by the police and stewards. Let their club and their fellow fans down.

After so many performances resembling death with football boots on, this was the second game in a row that was a really entertaining spectacle (if not sky-high in terms of quality).

It was nervy stuff with jingles and jangles everywhere until we eased the tension with Lacey's great goal to make it 2-0. How did we survive that two minute spell when Reynolds headed off the line and then they followed up with a ball that McMillan seemed to leave, apparently thinking it was dropping over the crossbar, only for it to come down off the bar, leading to an almighty escape?

For the second match in a row it was Reynolds MOTM for me.

There are many Workington haters/baiters on here; I am not one of them and, to Reds fans reading this, I hope you manage to escape the drop (as long as it's not at our expense of course). These so-called "derbies" are always something to look forward to and I hope there are two more next season - - - - in this same league.
