training facilities

As an exile I'm pretty much out of touch with facilities.

What facilities are there or could be adapted for AFC to train in the Town?

Also are then any facilities that the two professional teams in the town could both use (I won't use the word share) which would make those facilities economically viable?

Clearly pitches (indoor and outdoor) gyms showers etc would be a pre requisite.

What is achievable?

The pitch next door to holker street makes most sence, and the soccer bar, mind you furness rovers may have a thing or 2 to say about this.........Does Ray Gabrial or asda own this land........also the soccer bar rumours that it continues to struggle on.

without trying to sound clever i think people are getting ahead of themselves,

mr casson has been quite clear that when we get back to the conference then we will go full time!


then the decisions have to be made on if and how we could get players to come and live here (don`t believe this would be straight forward!)then if numbers and the logistics are right we could look at training facilities etc

let`s not run before we can walk the guy has already spent a fortune and houses /training area etc would involve an incredible ammount of time and money

i think our board and helpers are doing a great job but hey lets be happy with what`s taking place now,PATIENCE PLEASE!

Point taken but this is nothing more than musing as to what might happen.

Its no good waiting until we get promoted then suddenly thinking ok what do we do now re full time players housing training etc.

Better to do some groundwork )no pun intended) now rather than later?

To be honest, in terms of facilities, i dont think we will need to build our own, surely there can be some arrangement with furness college or the council etc, how many pitches do we need in this town?

There is an Astroturf down the road at the bottom of Bath Street (near Holker Street) that is barely used. I think its owned by the schools next to it, who normally have a good participation with Barrow AFC, like when Barrow were handing out the free tickets. Its got a carpack and seems like its a genuine location being not very far from the stadium.
