Barrow Reserves will start their League campaign this week, when they visit AFC Darwen to play in the Lancashire FA U18 Floodlit League Division One, thanks to Dan Myles and the FA’s website, their fixtures (arranged to date) are:

This isn't a reserve team, this is the performance centre's U18 B team, most of the players that played in this league last season are now playing for the U18's in the North west Alliance league, with games played on Sundays.

This is surely the academy side . we have not got a proper reserve set up . even workington and lancaster have a reserve team in the lancashire league . think this needs sorting for next season if possible then players can be getting match practice and not sitting in the stand watching. (big squad syndrome). as we found against runcorn town .

Yes and no,
This team is made up of mostly the lads from last seasons U16 team, plus a couple of the younger ones from last seasons U18 team, but some of the players from this team have played for the U18's in the North West Alliance league this season, its not really an U18's B or reserve team just a stepping zone for the U16's once they are to old for that league, but some of the U18 reserves will possibly play in these game, so yes and no.

This league is different in that they only play each team once, either home or away, but the U18 in the North West Alliance play there games home and away.

The U18's are playing at Holker St on Sunday, 2.30 KO, still looking for their 1st win of the season.

We would like to clear up any misconceptions that seem to be arising about the U18s and Reserves:

This year, as we continue to develop, the Centre have entered into the LFA floodlit league and North West Youth Alliance League. This is to ensure that we can provide as many games as possible for our U17 and U18 players. There is no A and B squad and both squads will be labelled as U18 sides. We will also use the Floodlit League to push through any U16 players who are pushing for selection; this worked well towards the end of last year when a number of U16s played in games against AFC Darwen and Southport. This year already has seen a U16 midfielder play against Marine, he also was on the scoresheet.

In regards to the Reserves this is an agenda item for next year as we too feel this is necessary for both developing players and 1st team members who for what ever reason are made available. We have already been involved in 'informal' conversations to enter a league and we will continue to explore a number of avenues ready for next season.

The LFA U18 side were 2-1 winners against AFC Darwen this evening, goals from Callum Lamb and Ryan Edgley brought the side back from 1-0 down.

The U18's are a massive step in the right direction for the club in developing local players, but will only succeed if we can get teh reserve side set up so those good enough can carry on their development with the BAFC framework. If not we'll just loose lads back into local football and all the work will have been for nothing.

Unless we get someone special, it's unlikey anyone will be ready to go from the U18's straight into the 1st team squad - physically it's a massive step up.

Good to see everyone working hard to make it happen.

I think it's only going to be a couple of quid,but I'll try and find out.

As for the bar, an hour before the game. Again, I'll try and find out for definite.
