Memorable 4-0 victories!
Memorable 4-0 victories!
It was a great win against Eastleigh, right up there with the best in my opinion, which in my time of watching is this. http://www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/news/art ... 37570.aspx

On bank holiday monday in August 2014 I had to choose between Cartmel races or Barrow v Chorley. Reluctantly I went to the football and we pummelled Chorley 4-0

A fantastic game of football played on the ground with slick passing. We were rampant. Matt Henney was sat across from us in the stand and he started off swatting on his phone but that didn't last long as he was on his feet going mental with the rest of us before long.

And then there was the famous banner of course.

The Fleetwood game for me. Barrow's tactics were to put the ball behind the Fleetwood defence then run on to it; Steve McNulty was particularly immobile. Then Paul Edwards scored his only goal for Barrow, turning the ball into his own net. Magic.
Think it was after that game that Fleetwood decided to go after Jamie Vardy.

Definitely Fleetwood for me. The best I've seen.
I think we played well against Wrexham just after that to. Was it 3-1? Might be wrong think they scored first?

Re: Memorable 4-0 victories!
4th November 1967. In the morning I watched the launch of the submarine Repulse (it got stuck on a sandbank!). In the afternoon, watched Barrow beat Northampton 4-0 in a 3rd Division game. Northampton had been in the top flight just two seasons previously. This game was the debut for Peter Bebbington and Jim Mulvaney, the latter of whom scored with a diving header about a foot above the ground. It was also notable for a rare goal for Colin Appleton, a deflected 25 yarder to round things off in the last minute.

17th Barrow 4-0 AFC Telford (First game post Phil Wilson)
20th AFC Bournemouth 3-2(AET) Barrow (FA Cup 1st round replay)
27th Barrow 4-1 Burscough
We had another two 4-1 wins against Vauxhall on new years day and 11 days later against Gainsborough. We even scored 5 a couple of times, crazy season that.
Re: Memorable 4-0 victories!
Got to say I think 4-0 on Saturday was a special day for me. Three generations of the family there, first game for K junior, 4-0 against a good Eastleigh expected to be in the promotion mix and a TV game to boot.
Made Eastleigh look rather ordinary (even with 11), just like Tranmere in the Cup the other week they were kept at bay and didn't threaten the Barrow goal much, a strong and fairly dominant display. Really made the extra man count, how many times do we see that? Fleetwood relegated to 2nd for me. 3rd is a renewed Barrow after the sacking of Phil Wilson, 4-0 against a promotion aiming Telford as Barrow went from relegation zone to play-offs and promotion.

Re: Memorable 4-0 victories!
We were in our fourth season of non-league football before we recorded a four nil league victory. It was on New Years Day 1976 and our opponents? Fleetwood. With ex Liverpool legend Ron Yeats as our player manager we were hoping the win would be a springboard to leap up the table. Sadly it wasn't to be- we ended up next to bottom of the NPL and I think we would have had to apply for re-election in those days. Fleetwood finished bottom and folded! Still a sweet victory -wins were few and far between in those days-we only won 12 league games all season.
We had to wait another four seasons before we recorded our next league 4-0. Unfortunately I missed this one as it was a historic victory. Despite finishing 16th in the NPL the previous season we became founder members of the Alliance League [now the National League] . On our first visit to Kettering a certain Colin Cowperthwaite ,seeing their rookie goalkeeper off his line, lobbed him from the kick off scoring one of the fastest goals ever- 3.55seconds! Cowps went on to score three more to record a famous victory.

Saturday 31 March 1962. We had just had a home defeat to Carlisle 0-3 on the previous Monday and then played top of the league Colchester on the Saturday. The gate dropped by 1,000 to 3,672 due to the dismal performance against Carlisle, and little was expected. Barrow 4, Colchester 0.
