You can always donate money directly (and gift aid it if possible) and let the club know - so hopefully they'll double it. Some cash is useful as it means the Foodbank can fill in the gaps in what's been donated. In my experience a few years ago, people in Barrow donate an awful lot of packets of dried noodles and tins of hot dogs - almost everything comes in useful.

There is also a shopping list and an 'urgently needed' list on their website...

Don't be so judgemental Al. A family could have a pet and then lose their job, become ill and unable to work etc. Does that mean they have to lose their pet as well. For some older folk it's the only company they have.
Kids from poorer families aren't allowed a pet?
It is about donations and if a person wants to pay out of their own pocket for animal food it's their choice.
Live and let live Al and let's be thankful we aren't in the position where we need the services of a food bank.

Had a nice chat with the Foodbank Manager yestertday. A few things we are short of locally is stuff liked tinned potatoes or 'Smash' (other packets are available) and tinned puddings' such as sponge pudding etc.

The Food Bank also distribute toiletries and would be very grateful to see these as well.

Please do drop anything off in Reception- club/community staff are going to drop off everything at the Foodbank on the afternoon of Friday 14th December.

Steve can you confirm that the chairman will double cash donations? I'm an exile so can not drop food off therefore a cash donation is my only option

They also distribute Christmas presents, which are roughly categorised by girl / boy and age brackets. I remember one day when two of us wrapped about 120 presents. For families who have problems buying food, these small gifts can make a big difference.
