Surely they would have had to do that anyway? Even if the new ground had been approved it wouldn't be ready by the start of the season - just over three weeks time!

Unless the Reds had been planning on sharing with Workington Town and this has fallen through?

They were saying last home game of the season it was the last game at Borough park so assume they were ready to move in with Rugby whilst the new ground was built which they now have had a change of heart about

In the May local elections many of the councillors sitting on Allerdale council lost their seats resulting in a new council with new members being formed. Given it was the previous council that approved the new build stadium in principle the newly elected councillors wanted to revisit these plans and did not approve them to be continued.

The plans were based on fantasy numbers including home attendances of 2000 for Town and Reds with 8000 for big games (Barrow friendly with Reds?) or if the clubs progressed through the leagues.
