Mentality
The board, kelly and anyone involved in the club can blame all sorts of different reasons why we are in this position but ultimately it boils down to the mentality of the management which is cascaded to the players. David Dunn, Michael Jolley and Rob Kelly all set us up not to lose instead of to win. That is the problem, the players know when they step on the pitch a draw is the desired result. Starting saturday it needs to stop he needs to go and set us up to win the mindset needs to be changed. If quigley doesnt score barrow dont score it's as simple as that. The opposition know it and we know it. On Saturday if we dont start Devitt it is a disgrace he looks the one player who has the class and composure on the ball to do something. Luke james for all his effort doesnt score any goals let's see Ndjoli have a go. Eardley looks on his last legs play Barry at RWB look at Goodridge in midfield who looks tidy and willing from what I've seen. Unless the shackles are lifted and the attitude is changed we are going down. I hope the board, the management read this and the penny drops. Turn up Saturday play on the front foot. Dont turn up on saturday try and get to 75 mins into the game 0-0 then possibly try and nick a goal. Time to turn up be brave and have a go at winning convincingly, get that message to the players and I believe we can get out of this dont and we are going down that's a fact.

Re: Mentality
What we need more than anything is a leader on the pitch to push people/urge them on etc. but we unfortunately don`t have anyone , attack /defend we all keep changing our mindset so god knows how the players feel, it`s all a mess and i honestly think we look like we lack confidence and as somebody said seem to lack any sort of conviction always expecting someone else to do what "they " should be doing can`t see a a way out of this !

Re: Mentality
Oh well maybe in another 48 years I'll get to see league football in time for my 100th birthday.
We have some good players, there is nothing to fear in the league but I think we set up wrong and we will go down

Re: Mentality
We can get out of this but to be Heroes you’ve got to be brave.
I want to see us start taking games to the opposition, press from the front, like other teams do to us, upping the tempo and creating. Half a chance? - have a go.
Defensively, we are sound. If we make a mistake, we have to move on quickly and at least give ourselves more chances at the other end.

But we`er not every game we give away a "soft " goal this is again down to someone to take care of the back 4 (herd to his credit did this brilliantly especially against cheltenham !)

Re: Mentality
How many times do you see teams at the bottom of leagues try to avoid relegation by defending deep and playing with fear, only to find it failed. Then for the last few games with nothing to loose they play expansive football and beat teams near the top.
If we continue to play with fear of losing we are down anyway, its time to take the brakes off now and have a go before it's too late. All players enjoy having a go so let them loose and encourage them to go forward we have everything to gain and very little to lose where we are at the moment but in 5 or 6 games time it will be too late. If we are relegated every fan would rather we went down having a go rather than still going down parking the bus. We don't know what this team can do given the chance.

Re: Mentality
We have lost only 2 games all season by more than 1 goal ! 10 games we have lost 1-0 so far - if that doesn't scream just try and get 1 goal per game at least i don't know what does.
Re: Mentality
sounds like changes afoot for saturday, thought james jones and broughie were very poor last night and would leave them out on saturday. a back three of eardley ,thomas and nithe looks pretty solid to me . didnt think we got round the back much last night and would suggest playing bramhall wide right as he looks like he wants to take players on and if fit josh kay on left, as much as i like brad barry he dosent have the ability to take a man on , perhaps a move infield might suit him, just a thought, and deffo gotta put devitt in biggins old position. gotta start getting at teams now and not rely on nicking a late goal and devitt looks like hes got the ability to score and create, 25 mins at end of game is no good for the lad, hes gotta start saturday. no more negative tactics we have to be up and at them from the 1st minute

He’s started the last 3 games in a 3 man centre midfield with Taylor and Banks
