There was a good Barrow AFC article in the Mail today about the launch of a £100k fundraiser back in 1989. Does anyone remember this and whether it successfully achieved this target?
The idea was to “Lease a piece” of the pitch (all 71280 sq feet of it) £15 for 10sq ft. It looks like it had a good start and was launched by the clubs fundraising coordinator Leasil Burrow.
Each sponsor received a certificate and entered into a weekly draw to win a pair of match tickets and be guests of the Director’s at the game.
First to “lease a piece” was John Hudson of Red OAk Ave.
Thought it was quite a good article and a good idea - does anyone know if it reached the £100k target which would be a lot raised for the club even in today’s money? …. Would something like this be a good idea today? Also anyone know if Leasil / John are still around and still get to the game? Appreciate its 30 odd years ago….

Pretty sure leasil worked with me at the gas terminal early 90s, didn't know she worked at holker street, as for John Hudson, if same lad I'm thinking off, used to go regularly until mid late 90s, not seen him since, think he supported stockport too bizarrely enough!

I'm sure I remember in the programs a graphic of a pitch with a grid laid over it and in each column the name of the sponsor. When did that stop?

Yep, something the club and then BDF used as a fundraiser for quite a few years.sempre contigo wrote: ↑Thu Jun 16, 2022 1:00 pm I'm sure I remember in the programs a graphic of a pitch with a grid laid over it and in each column the name of the sponsor. When did that stop?
