Re: Sam Barnes
The lad’s had a horrendous time with I believe x2 ACL injuries keeping him out for most of the last two years. Reading the comments from ex Rovers Manager JDT is difficult not to feel sorry for him.
Fingers crossed for a lad and Welcome to Barrow.

Re: Sam Barnes
I'm guessing that's why it's just 1 year contract.
Players do recover from ACL these days so hopefully he's done all the rehab and he has a good season.

His knee injury was 22/23 he recovered from that. Last season wasn't his knee.

Re: Sam Barnes
The policy of buying players with pre-existing medical problems seldom if ever works out and is a gamble clubs of our means should never take. We had it a while back with Baker-Richardson who presumably was paid a decent wage and funded for an operation yet never played a game for us. I would love to see Barnes start playing football again and carve himself a good career, but wishful thinking has not proved a sound business practice for us.
We will follow the soccer, over land and sea...

Re: Sam Barnes
Sam Barnes is just an example of a club taking a punt on a player who otherwise would be a very good prospect. Don’t believe for one moment that Sam really fitted into our planning.
A bit like a fine young race horse that’s gone lame. If only we can get it back to fitness then the world is our lobster Rodney.
8 out of 10 times it’s a bust but then you know that when he’s signed. It’s as close as a club like our’s get’s to ignoring the risk.

Re: Sam Barnes
At the end of the day we can only play the cards we’re dealt. The squad is no different than the one which took us to the top of the league a couple of months ago when we were pinching ourselves.
The whole club is down at the moment non more so than the fans so as painful as it may be we just need to stick together get behind the whole club, all bad runs come to an end let’s hope ours does soon.

Pretty sure a couple of weeks ago Stephen Clemence said he had suffered a setback and was out until the turn of the year.
Don't let the old man in.

Re: Sam Barnes
Will be surprised if we see him at all until the season’s knockings if at all. I believe he’s on a season’s contract only and if so, it’s for obvious reasons.
I’m wondering who was the last (outfield) player signed by the club that stayed for a full season, never went on loan and never played for the club?

Re: Sam Barnes
Another one to add to the Iain Wood list of shocking signings……we cannot afford to be signing players who visibly have massive injury issues. What a waste of the budget this signing has become. Sorry for the lad but he obviously ain’t cut out for a career in the game.
