35th trophy Anniversary event

The Doc has asked me if I can post this in here for your information - so here it is!

May 17th 2025 marks the 35th anniversary of Barrow AFC's Trophy final victory at Wembley versus Leek Town. In order to mark the occaision, former club secretary, Keith Nelson, felt it would be a good idea to organise an event and brought together a number of former board members, staff and players to assess the appetite for a celebration. The response was extremely positive and as a consequence Keith and a small working group are now pleased to announce details of the celebratory dinner taking place on 17th May 2025 at the Masonic Lodge in Barrow.

The event will include an opportunity for some of the players and staff to talk about the experiences on the day and leading up to the final and entertainment will also be provided by singer Logan Paul Murphy and Comedian, Howard Nicholson. Tickets for the event are £40 each and available for purchase from the Mind in Furness shop, on Dalton Road, Barrow, with surplus proceeds going to Barrow AFC and Mind in Furness.

Speaking to someone today who went said it was a great night. Kenny Lowe and Kenny Gordon couldn’t be there but sent messages that those there listened to. Many players got up to speak about that great day.
This group of lads along with the great Ray Wilkie were the start of the good times returning to the club. Before that the club were just treading water going nowhere but Ray Wilkie changed all that. A man that this club owes so much to and quite rightly he had a road named after him and the popular side stand
In some ways it's a pity the club today didn't recognise or even acknowledge the 35 year anniversary by putting something on social media. Its not as though there is a shortage of information out there about that great day to put something together.

What a fantastic video and one I hadn’t seen before so thanks for sharing
Brought back some fantastic memories and some familiar faces. It was and still is for me my greatest day of supporting the club. As an achievement getting back into the league topped it but due to covid we couldn’t celebrate like we did in 1990. The homecoming was unbelievable. Yes 2010 was great but not as many went to Wembley for that one and although the homecoming was good nothing could top 1990 imo

agreed - I'd never seen it before either, but brings back many a great memory.

Not seen this before either and really enjoyed the video.

As an aside, both featured pubs have closed. 'The Steelworks' in Barrow has sadly long gone. That was a boozer and a half and there was always something happening in there.

Also, 'Ye Olde Swiss Cottage' on the Finchley Road in London's Swiss Cottage suddenly closed out of the blue, earlier this year. Who is the one second from left in yellow, wearing spectacles?

Is that Stuart Todhunter in the red shirt?

Is that Paul Ferris third from the right?

Cowps is the one who has changed least of all of them. If his playing performance has likewise not altered then can we sign him up for next season - - - - -
