Next season

Post by LCBAFC40 » Sat Apr 25, 2026 9:42 pm

Bar an absolute miracle turn of events next Saturday we will be in the national league next season.
I'll be there on Saturday and maybe if we get an early goal or 2 and so do Salford I might sit and dream for a bit until the inevitable happens and we are gone....

I've seen a few posts regarding giving everyone from the BOD to the tea lady some shit after the match. Up to you if you feel that way but you'll need the BOD, Wood (who has also done well at the club in the past but gets the most abuse it seems even when the club state he doesn’t make all the decisions) and yes several players could be here next year as under contract so be careful what you wish for.

I'm sure things are already in motion for next season, Manager and player contracts now its almost certain we are in for the big drop.

I just want to come the the 1st game of the season with the club ok (no backers pulled out) a bit of passion to try and at least be in the playoffs with the recruitment to show for it, enjoy winning some matches. We just can not afford to end up like Morcambe this season.

A good post LC.

I appreciate the BOD for what they have done previously and have tried to do this season. A lot of mistakes have been made, they are the first to admit that which is admirable. The important thing is what you do next. More of the same, or make the necessary changes? Player and manager recruitment has been disastrous. As I have stated previously, whoever has been involved in selecting these players, needs to be moved away from that or moved out of the club. My opinion.

Last game of the season. I will be there. I am annoyed mostly at what I view to be underachieving mercenaries disguised as footballers, and they are going to get it from me. I won’t be clapping them. They don’t deserve it.

As soon as I can renew my season ticket, for next season, I will be doing so. I love Barrow AFC, just not the 2025/26 team. The absolute worst and one to forget, if we ever can, for all the wrong reasons.

We can't be mucking around looking for the next Evatt, we've gambled on that too many times as it is.

Experienced head with knowledge of the level required to stop the rot. In our previous periods in the NL we've seen plenty of bigger clubs than us drop out of League Two and struggle. John Coleman on paper would be ideal.

Forget previous, this is now the biggest managerial appointment in our recent history.
Popular side since '03.

I think many players under contract will be looking to leave. Coaching staff also. Probably best for all parties. I can’t think of many of current squad to build a squad around to compete at the top end in the National League and a complete squad rebuild is needed. Not sure what to expect and we don’t know yet the Board response from this relegation. We will know almost immediately on the season end
We will lose a lot of revenue - sponsorships, Sky revenue massively down. Attendances likely to be down. The club will likely restructure on and off the pitch. Not even sure if training location will be reconsidered. It hasn’t done us much good has it? We’ve picked up more injuries at training than I can ever remember which must raise questions about training and how we train.
Felt there was very little togetherness in this squad and lacked leaders.

The season has been shambolic and we got steadily worse and in the end couldn’t score and couldn’t keep clean sheets. That’s only going to end one way.

As for the rest of the field- Chesterfield looked good when they came here, MK Dons maybe. We were just rubbish throughout with the odd win. Never had any consistency at all.

The board may have had enough and ran out of steam. They may look at relegation as a time to move on. They may think they’ve took the club as far as they can and need new ideas and investment on board is needed.

We’ll see in the next couple of weeks

Absolutely this. I totally agree Matty.

This season has been nothing but shambolic, The club has to take the opportunity for a big reset, and the big decisions that need taking cant be rushed and have to be the right ones to give us the best chance next season
Just my opinion

Well, that's us as good as down and I've got to be honest, in a perverse way, I'm glad.
The last 4 seasons have been tortureass and who really wants their club to struggle like that season on season.
This group of players do have some talent but are absolutely gutless.
Personally, I think we are a top ten National league "club" in our current state, a few improvements to the ground doesn't make us L2!
IF, and I think it's quite a big IF, the board stay, they should openly admit their mistakes, announce they have a 5-10 year plan to build the infrastructure of the club, try and get some local players at least in the squad, maybe create an academy or reserve team etc.
I think if the fans were told something along these lines they would really get behind it.

We need more goals both from open play and free kicks, since John Rooney we have never had someone can regularly score from free kicks.

You want to feel you have a chance to win in every game, last 2 seasons many games have felt at that if we went 1 down thats us done.

Got to rebuild the connection with the fans. Want to actually enjoy and look forward to going to the games playing good attacking football. Even games when it doesn't go your way, so long as they've given it their all. Remember this attitude, we need it back. Tell me any of the Managers / coaches who have come anywhere near creating the same feel good factor.

We have mainly set up to try not to lose games and lost them anyway - you need to be confident and go and grab the match by the scruff of the neck - mentality and belief we just never had any of it

Were we not moving training location anyway at the end of this season?

Just get John Coleman in. Raglan will be ok at centre back in the national league, MJ Williams captain and running the midfield (if he’ll stay) Whitfield on the right, McCann (think he’ll get offers to go) will do well if he stays, see Booty at Boreham Wood. If Flash signs which he probably will Rose and Gordon as a partnership in the national league is fine. We just desperately need some more pace and power at the back (sign a bloody right back this time FFS!) and on the wing

Football clubs need rich boys like a hole in the head.

Bundesliga fan ownership is the best model.

At least AFC Fylde won the NL North so we've got more of a local fixture than some of the teams.

Full player clear out is needed.
