Indeed, his dismissal turned a disappointing season into one where league status is at serious risk.

Maybe don’t choose the next manager based on how much the players like him… Felt at the time that MacDonald would’ve been a safer bet ‘til the end of the season. Instead we plumped for inexperience. We’re properly in ‘as long as there’s two teams more rubbish than we are’ territory now. I know he w...

Said it the last 3 games and got pelters. This is what you get for appointing a charlatan as a manager. But it’s ok he’s a nice guy. :) Barrow were on a bad run when Whing was sacked. But he is an experienced manager and I had little doubt he'd steer the team to safety. Barrow had 20 points from 19...

Would take McDonald for the time being - use that experience to get us stabilised and try for a solid mid-table finish. Beyond that, we are not an attractive proposition for a lot of managers - we’re small in terms of both stature and fanbase, we’re miles from anywhere, and we’re starting to look l...

Football is a funny old game which we all can attest to. This isn’t Chelsea we are playing away from home, and will all depend on the mindset of our Jekyll and Hyde side. Wigan should be better than us, but will they be? We have to make Wigan doubt themselves and put our stamp on the game from the ...

Thank you Scott5, Main Stand SeasonTkt and Hadrian for the informative replies.

On paper Cole Stockton and Dom Telford looked easily the best strike force in League Two and I was confident they'd fire you to promotion last season. Unfortunately football's not played on paper and, though obviously I didn't see you play, it would appear the partnership was a damp squib.

Two years ago I was sitting in the lounge of an hotel on Holy Island following the scores on my companion's mobile phone. I'd backed Bristol Rovers ante-post and I watched as the goals mounted to a 7-0 win which meant they overturned an inferior goal difference to Northampton even though The Cobble...

Funny old game football IF we draw v Mansfield and Crawley lose Bradford would need to beat Newport by 7 goals to go above us, even a couple of draws in last 2 home games would have helped was all looking great after the Grimsby result. Two years ago I was sitting in the lounge of an hotel on Holy ...

Influential attacking midfielder Jamie Walker sent off for two yellows today and will miss the game. He's CLASS! That's good news for us. It'd be nice to see Dom Telford earning his wages for once and hitting the back of the net! Top striker? Golden Boot Winner? Then show us! :scarf: I'm surprised ...

One of the stand-out signings of summer '22 was Dom Telford leaving Newport for Crawley. One of the stand-out signings of summer '23 was Cole Stockton going from Morecambe to Burton. Now they could be lining up alongside each other for Barrow. Two extraordinary pieces of business by those involved i...

I was shocked when Telford joined Crawley. I'm even more surprised to read he's joined you. This really is an outstanding addition. I fancied you to do well this season and Dom Telford can only increase your chances.

I think it will be who next comes that door of opportunity that could well make the difference between an 11th placed finish and 22nd placed finish. Where's the optimism gone I was reading on here only days ago? As long as Pete Wild is in charge I'd hope for a top-half finish at least; and I'm not ...

Well done everybody. Things look a lot brighter for Barrow tonight.
