In response to the OP that isn't the case.
After the awards were handed out a few players (James Owen was one) said that they don't know at present. Most will wait to see what they are offered for next season before deciding whether or not they stay or leave and clearly what other offers they get will also have an influence on what they do next season. With Boyes goalscoring expolits I think it was inevitable that he'd get interest and offers from other clubs but I'd question just what exactly other players have been offered and by what clubs? If they want to pay silly money to mediocre players then more fool them.
The change to part-time and less wages will clearly mean that many will leave due to the travelling involved to get here if they have to get other jobs to subsidise their wages.

It happens in football when a team goes down at every level spoke to a mate whose a Bristol City, fan most of that team are leaving due to them being relegated, the main thing is for Barrow AFC to survive we survived since 1972 and beyond including the Vaughan years, when he nearly killed us, Barrow have punched above their weight for the past five years this is our level no problems for me the Conference North, it was a blast the last five years but shit happens, but the ironic thing is we will get better crowds next season because Barrow will challenge for a play off spot,to top it all off Stockport County are as big as us its not all doom and gloom bring on the Workington. Lancashire and proud me up the AFC,keep the faith.

I agree, its not all doom and gloom. But your talking crap when you say we will be challenging for a play off spot-I hope we are-but how can you say that given that the club is supposed to be skint.

Depending who comes into Blue Sq North (or whatever its called next season) in terms of support we shold be in the top 5 so i can't see why we can't have a team that can at least make it to the play off's

a couple of cup runs would be nice

im looking forward to next season allready - actually going to look forward to enjoying it again,

There's a lot more to it than that. Boston have one of the biggest supports in Conf North and they've only been mid-table the last 2 seasons, they have to pay extra to get the players to go there just like we would have to.
Lets not forget the debts we have as that has clearly had an impact this season and will do for a while yet. Many will expect us to bounce straight back up but I don't think that will be the case. We have to start in the 2nd Qual Rnd of the FA Cup so we'd need to win 3 games to get to the 1st Round Proper so I hope we do have a Cup run!!
On the flip side less travelling to get to games, less segregation, less rules and regulations, a lot less hassle all round :)

No,I don't suppose they were but a lot has changed in five years for example, the conference north is of a higher standard than it was back then plus, can you imagine what other people must be thinking when they read comments that say 'we should be challenging for a play off spot',they will all be out to shoot us down anyway being perceived as a fairly big fish having come down from a national league but to me,comments such as yours, will make us an even bigger target.I am not having a go at you its just the way I see things I suppose, dunno I might be wrong.

How many years did it take to get promoted last time we went down from the Conference? Why does anyone assume it will be so much quicker this time round?

being realistic I think we will not find it easy in conf north but still think we will be in the top 8 we should be in the top 5 of attendences but like john said look at boston as an example they havnt found it easy anyhow we should win more than we lose which will be a first for years.

the top 8 is going for a play off scrap I don't think Barrow will get promoted straight away look at Altrincham for an example as well as Boston we could be in this league for a few years but like you said we should get a few more wins which should bring the fickle fans back should be interesting to see what odds the bookies give us

Probably a good thing we are loosing most if not all of the team, we probably can't afford them anymore... ? I thought it was a bad idea for Bayliss to insist on one year contracts as it could have left us with no players at the end of this season. It may even have contributed to the relegation as players attitudes did change toward the end, probably as they started to look elsewhere for the new season. If money has run out and the Chairman's plans to stop footing the bill had already been decided, it may have played it's part in the one year contract situation. I think some of the players we are loosing, Boyes and Baker would run riot in BSN but we'll not likely see that now but it is unclear exactly who is staying if any. Going to be interesting to watch what happens now.

On our promotion chances, I don't think any team that has gone down into BSN has come back at the first attempt except maybe Northwich who were demoted due to irregularities. With their chairman bankrolling them at the time, they stayed with their comfortable mid-table (full-time?) BSP side and won promotion at a canter.

In fact look at the sides relegated from BSP over the last few seasons. Ebbsfleets are the only side out of the last 11 sides to be relegated to make it back last season and it took them 2 seasons to do it. Woking relegated in 2009-10 took 3 seasons to come back, that is 2 sides out of 15 relegated. Also Ebbsfleet and Woking came up from BSS not BSN. Chester and possibly Halifax will be the first from BSN to make a return. Across both feeder leagues there has not even been a handful of clubs to make it back over the time we have been in the BSP and none at the first attempt.

Any thought of an immediate return would have to be backed with money, something all of the above mentioned sides have... well more of, when compared to Barrow. Our gates will be lower, the Braintree game is probably a good gauge as to how many we will get, a nothing game with a lot of unrest and we still managed over 800, not bad. About 700-800 average I would expect, some games being much lower some a little higher. A winning run and it may rise but unless we are near the top at the end of the season I would not expect it to change much. Money will be tight with chairman Keen saying no more money to be pumped in. Although the return of much missed and needed derby games (next season v Workington) will boost coffers a little. Also... take on board what Goodwin said on BBC RC yesterday, he spoke to an unnamed director who said we can not afford to return to the BSP at the first attempt.

It would be nice if we could bounce back but unlikely, I live in hope rather than expect it.

Getting the club on a sound financial footing is first requirement imo,if we had stayed up, i do think we would have gone into administration if things had continued as they have, there is no way we could afford to be in BSP with present income.
Who ever is manager needs to put together ,maybe over couple seasons, a team that is consistent and wants to play here,no has beens etc.
The BoD has to be open ALL the time and PR must be improved.
I dont expect miracles but hope to see light at end of this dark tunnel we are in at present, in the next couple seasons :scarf:
