What's your thoughts Reg on Edmondson becoming the next manager?

Will he be the man to tempt you back to Holker Street?

The only reason I can think of is that all those interviewed this week expected more salary and budget than the club could offer so they are looking for a cheaper alternative.
Or maybe he came to the board with a really good idea of what he wants to achieve, willingness and understanding of the steps we need to take to bring youth through, focus more on the area and town and connect with the people?

Out of the other candidates, Carl McCauley was in a a similar position but less local and less experience possibly, forum favourite Gary Lowe (who I doubt any of you could say much about as a person, manager, style etc other than that he got Hyde promoted) has history of leaving a club due to budget difficulties and has been out of a job for 2 years, and Meeks with no managerial experience who in the month he's been in charge has yet to gain a win in the league.

People need to wake up and realise who we are, where we are and where we want to go. We don't have a plethora of big names knocking on our door, nor the money to pay them if they did.

Give the guy a chance ffs, he's actually done a very good job on a smaller budget and far less inspiring circumstances up the coast, kept them punching above their weight, got them to a play-off and a trophy QF and against all odds actually attracted some decent players to the arsehole of the country.
Couldnt agree more with this. We are Barrow, not Burton Albion.
Edmo would be a step in the right direction. Doing a decent job with a lower budget. Not many if any better options.
Edmo in! Story in!

I think he's the best man for the current situation.

Not sure whether I'm coming back or not yet as I haven't missed it at all and the thought of coming back to cold terraces to watch a game I don't like anywhere near as much as I used to isn't appealing.

It's not a Barrow thing, it's a football thing in general. I barely watch any football these days except MOTD and often don't even get to the end of the programme even then.

I wish him well, I hope he does well and I hope that the club start to climb out of the hole it's in but as for whether I'll come back, I'm not so sure. I thought I'd miss it more than I have and now I have learned that I don't, it's hard to justify forking out the £100 per month again.

No matter who is appointed ,some supporters will not be pleased and would want someone else. Whoever decides to take on the mammoth task of trying to rebuild Barrow AFC from the shambles we find ourselves in today will require the support of everyone if they are to succeed. Get behind whoever is appointed :scarf:

What do you mean, whoever it is?

It's blindingly obvious it's Edmondson! What on earth has made you think anyone else is STILL in the running?

I think it's the right time for all parties:

He's gone stale at the Wukkies and a new face (Matt Henney a near cert I would imagine) might galvanise them. They get 3 pound twenty compo or whatever, maybe.

We get someone who knows the league, has contacts, hopefully brings Skelts and should sign less appalling timewasters from the metropolis. It's not an breathtaking appointment, but it's a sensible one. He'll have enough experience to cope with a bigger club, with higher expectations and probably if we are being honest a more passionate but also unforgiving support. He'll also have the good sense to try and interact with the support more.

Meechan has done nothing wrong except advise Bayles initially on some of the squad and should stay or leave with our thanks and best wishes.

Darren Edmondson himself was brought through in a golden period for Carlisle's youth policy, so should have seen the value of that when he worked with David Wilkes and the like. I hope he keeps that going.

Away to put money on 2-0 Barrow Saturday, Arnison first scorer.

Think he would be a decent appointment for where we are at the moment, hes played for the club managed it briefly and is locally based work wise and hes done a good job with the freaks up the coast with little or no resources, as for wukkie fans saying they are glad to be rid of him, careful what you wish for cant see many top names knocking your door down as you plunge to the bostick league.

Cant be many top names knocking on your door if edmo is the man for the job.

Yawn. Getting boring now, we all know you're pretty gutted to see him go. Cheers for the 6 points over Xmas, in advance x

How do you know Edmo's not bringing Skelton as his assistant.
