The Brian Arrowsmith Stand?

Given the planned building work and improvements over the next five years, I think there will be plenty of scope to rename quite a lot of areas after past and present people that have historic significance in Barrow AFC folklore!

In Ralph's newsletter there is a suggestion from some numpty that the bar be named 'the Crazy Horse bar' after Emlyn Hughes. I'm sure that's one suggestion that WON'T cause any debate or controversy!

I think that naming a stand after Brian Arrowsmith is an excellent idea. Understandable that Paul Casson should suggest it, as Brian was one of the players from the Football League era which he remembers and wants to bring back. Entirely appropriate.

What did Emlyn Hughes ever do for Barrow AFC, apart from acting as "Supporter in Chief" (or whatever) at Wembley in 1990? Honours such as naming something at the ground have to be earned by service to the club, not just being born in the town.

He's got a statue at the far end of HolkerStreet. That's enough recognition of his service to football generally.
