Or maybe even time for the C! logo to be introduced to a Uk audience!Jonty wrote:Have you read the article? Maybe the extended deal couldn't be secured because agreement couldn't be reached, "company policy in terms of their sponsorship strategy" .....you know- normal stuff.
Important to get a name that fits what we trying to achieve. Three years with a poorly perceived brand is not going to shift shirts. Maybe we could go a season without shirt sponsorship.

Re: Sponsorship deals
Coral never seemed to be arsed that they sponsored us. They never mentioned it on their website or social media etc.Steelworks End wrote:As a local company, the value of the shirt advertising would be less to Chas Kendall than it would be to Corals, who have offices across the country. It would be realistic, therefore, for Barrow AFC to expect more money from the deal, especially if we are playing at a higher level next season. Perhaps Corals thought that this was too much?audigex wrote:they carried on the Chas Kendal deal for a while to keep a bit of "We're still local" feeling after the takeover, and now that people have got used to the idea of it being Coral rather than "local" Chas Kendal, they're out.
I can't see any other reason why they'd suddenly be "unhappy" with the club now that we're starting to show signs of success.
Or maybe they are unhappy because Paul Casson has a more lucrative sponsorship deal lined up, which Corals couldn't match?
Re: Sponsorship deals
I very quickly read the couple of tiny paragraphs in the mail, don't recall it word for word but it basically said the deal was off. Don't recall anything about strategy being mentioned, but it is obvious they stuck with it because it suited them to do so at the time. Obviously it does not now it has served it's purpose.Jonty wrote:Have you read the article?

No, but £20,000 a year is a considerable amount lost.Lancaster Branch wrote:Coral never seemed to be arsed that they sponsored us. Not really - it probably covers a players wage, if that.

Just going to put it out there.....Why was Brian Keen negotiating rather than the man employed to find sponsorship

Re: Sponsorship deals
Probably because Brian was involved in the negotiations last season.
It was touch and go whether they carried on the sponsorship last year due to their having no involvement in football and they were in the process of making redundancy cuts among their staff. Perhaps this is due to on-line betting which could see more branch shops closing down.
We must remember to remove their signs at the end of the season and not have free advertising for them as has happened in the past with boards being up for years after sponsorship has ended.

Maybe we could get BAR OW C UNCIL to sponsor us again, like one(?) season in the 1980s.Jonty wrote:Maybe we could go a season without shirt sponsorship.

Gets my vote, we won a league in that strip. An England Euro '88 knock off iirc.

Barrow AFC, proudly sponsored by Barrow Council's 'Potholes and Dog Shit' department

Re: Sponsorship deals
If we can't secure a shirt sponsor deal then maybe the space could be offered free of charge to a charity? Would look better than a blank space and give something back to the community.

Re: Sponsorship deals
Martin, are you saying it wasn't the Keen's that set the deal up?
Well it was those two who completed it as I had a conversation with Tony Keen telling me about the negotiations.

I've been in conversation with Keen the younger and sometimes he exaggerates and sometimes he's economical with the truth, so don't take everything he says as gospelHolkerbird wrote:Martin, are you saying it wasn't the Keen's that set the deal up?
