Re: Forest Green v Barrow match thread
In addition to what's already been posted about the stewards they also said that our bus driver had told them we were a pack of animals and trouble-makers and such like and also used that as an excuse not to let us in. After the match when the stewards were next to the bus the bus driver was asked about the stewards accusations and said he's not said anything of the sort and the steward who made the accusation heard this and walked off.
At the end of the game there were a group of FGR fan outside the away fans area waiting for us to leave the ground and cause trouble and thankfully other than a few verbals and some restraint from Barrow fans nothing happened but the stewards stood right next to it and let it happen.
Gonna get in touch with Forest Green about this and will be interesting to hear their lies, I mean response.
PS Also thought there was less a thousand in the ground.

Looking round the ground and taking into account the Barrow faithful you would think the max attendance was 800

Re: Forest Green v Barrow match thread
Dover game-fortunate to get 3 pts, Grimsby, We got what we deserved, Nowt, FGR, sounds unfortunate chain of events robbed us of a fighting chance to compete, Guiseley are buoyed by 2 wins already & will be full of beans & are a good team as you all know, So IMHO a point against them won't be the end of the world but all 3 will have us back on track, Sounds like this league is a lot faster than we gave it credit for & it's cost us a lot of goals so far but seeing as we are now FT we have this luxury of being able to work on this & when we make the improvements & face the bottom half teams we (hopefully) will be up to speed. IMO We still will end up in mid table by the seasons end. Play up Barrow.

As somebody else has stated after this post we should appeal, yes the game has gone but we need to try to save him from the three match ban as the sending off seems to have been very harsh.bobbie moore wrote:Be waste of time appealing, just move on score will still count no matter what!

Re: Forest Green v Barrow match thread
One view that I don't think has been aired above. I think the first few games have uncovered a certain naivety in the club.
Am not referring to the expectations of some of our contributors but to the management team and maybe to the owner as well (respect you as I do Mr Casson).
The difference between surviving and thriving in this league cannot really be equated to a certain level of budget. Generally speaking I think you have to invest far more than you think you need to achieve that level of success. Planning for success in finite steps with associated increases in budget may look logical and reasonable but is easily exposed and has been after 3 games.
Like others, thought our acquisitions in pre-season were reasonable but not remarkable. Also thought our pre-season fixture list was lightweight for a side intending to challenge having moved up to this level. We appear to be struggling with the pace of opposition (including Dover) - a fact alluded to by Edmo. Also think the step up from part-time to full-time was something that should have been better anticipated not just as a contractual issue but as a challenge in terms of raising fitness levels.
Am not despondent. This problem could have festered on behind some less dismal results for a period of time before surfacing later which would've been worse. Grimsby and FGR have simply exposed the issue early. Edmo/Meeks need now to demonstrate that they can learn and step up to the plate. If not they will probably be gone sooner rather than later.
If PC had any insecurities about what might happen when we made this step up, he probably is being reminded of them now. He may not want to throw additional investment at this situation until certain criteria have been met. However, this logic may not apply. This is football. At some point along this "journey" there was always going to be a period where difficult situations had to be dealt with. Now we will see the extent of the clubs intent.

Re: Forest Green v Barrow match thread
Good post SB, IF there's any credibility to the rumors of us offering peanuts to Boyd and the other RB who signed for Dover then it appears our budget is stretched, I fully agree with us being sensible and not getting held to random by agents believing PC is writing blank cheques, but in saying that you have to compete & bring in the calibre of players to propel us forwards while still investing in the young lads who the club believe are the future, Not bringing in a specialist RB & 1 or 2 more proven players would IMO make a huge difference to the team & keep the fan base happy & the attendances higher, which would in theory help pay for these additional players, Come on PC time to be flexible with this seasons budget.

Re: Forest Green v Barrow match thread
Mike the lad who signed for Dover was offered no deal by us and we didn't want him and as for Bond we already have 4 players in his position.

What concerns me is the fans staying behind the team and what the club is trying to achieve. Wouldn't surprise me if these two defeats knock off 600+ off the gate for Tuesday night.

It'll be a 1-match ban for Livesey.optomisticsupporter wrote:As somebody else has stated after this post we should appeal, yes the game has gone but we need to try to save him from the three match ban as the sending off seems to have been very harsh.bobbie moore wrote:Be waste of time appealing, just move on score will still count no matter what!
To get it overturned, my understanding is that the club will need to demonstrate one of the following things:
a) the ball didn't strike his arm
b) his arm wasn't outside the frame of his body
c) the ball wouldn't have gone in the goal
From what I saw from where I was stood I think we've no chance on a) or b). And regarding c) I'd be surprised if the video evidence didn't show that the shot was on target so our only hope is that the video shows that the shot was very likely to be blocked by Dixon or another defender behind Livesey.

Dont appeal take the one game ban and get on with it otherwise if it fails the ban will be increased not worth the risk IMO.

I find it despicable you would use such a dark day in the Clubs history in such a trivial manner. I still bear the scars from that dayKHayman wrote:I always think of Scott Spencer and it makes me laugh.Leo wrote:Edmo out.
