This team/ squad is as good on paper as the likes of Dover, Eastleigh ,Woking, top 8 finish at the start was not an unrealistic target. The signings failed too turn up for the full 90! Casson looking for 6pts from the Woking / Gateshead games is not crazy . As it is now, I think we will carry on our good home record and get some points in the bag away from home. Cox is trying too install some passion into this current crew , and I believe he will!

Like he's already said it will take a year to sort this [SwearFilter] Edmo has assembled( I know he's apparently a nice bloke etc. . .)
And following this it gives the fickle fans reason to give up, people outside the hardcore support will think we are underachieving and not attend, you will here the usual 'the soccer are doing [SwearFilter]' and people will just go down to the strawberry and watch sky sports instead.

“We’re probably six points better than the table suggests in all reality and that would put us in a different position entirely."

We arent, we are where we deserve to be, the table doesnt lie. A few quotes in that article still make me believe he thinks we will be flying up towards the playoffs, absolutely stupid expectations.

If we had gone into this season, setting out realistic aims like consolidation, i think there would have been a much more positive spin around the club.
The Strawberry's a shit pub ;)
how we get there i don,t no.Barrows on the way

That Holt > Casson story sounds coincidentally nice though doesnt it. Could it be?

I'm not convinced we will see any movement in the transfer market now until the summer when we can get rid of the deadwood
Just my opinion

Barrow transfer discussion on sports hour- from 21mins. Andy Wood doing a bit of speculating- but clearly Cox will not just bring in anyone if he's missed his initial targets. I'd rather it be that than go for 3rd, 4th choices who won't improve the squad

I sincerely hope not.

Last time he was here he was awful. Missed some absolute sitters. Only improved when he left.

Some good points there. I like the DNA bit. We may turn into an "ugly" side but i recall us playing Emley (i may be wrong) many years ago who were so physical it made them a good team.

I dont really care if we sign anyone else, as nobhead (boyliegladbach) said we can survive with what we have, who gives two hoots if its 17th or 16th we need to build on the squad.

On a note about contracted players not pulling weight or being capable : i would rather the money spent getting rid of them and paying contracts off (to a limited amount) than gambling on someone who can make matters worse as a panic signing. If need be you look for a seasoned pro who will play for £800 a week til the end of the season and be done.

And (again) about the lure of the town : well the whole "They wont come to Barrow as its miles away / not a great town" is bullshit! I have travelled from Chorley to Barrow so many times and it takes about 1.45hrs. I am working in Poulton and in rush hour it takes over an hour to get 26 miles, someone mentioned this in this thread earlier regarding the ease now of getting to Barrow. And as for the town who exactly cares if they sign for Barrow and dont like the town? They wont move to Barrow and live there or send the kids to school? They will live elsewhere. [SwearFilter] me people have jobs where they live away from home all week but still dont moan.

As an exile I cannot make too much of a judgement on the team per say but the games i have watched have been awful. Yet we probably wont go down. I say just stick with what we have on contract and get rid in the summer (at a cost), sign a good old bugger like Mutch or Marsh for the season and start again with a blank sheet.

Thats all.
