If your right about Eastleigh Charlie, then the fact that they have just unveiled plans for a new £10 million, 9000 all seater stadium to help them get in the football league, does not seem to have carried much weight in attracting Freddie Ladapo to sign for them.

that`s probably because they will not have been allowed to speak to him!

Correct Nigel.

Clubs can't (officially) approach a player under contract.

Incorrect.
Margate accepted the offer and allowed the club to speak to Ladapo.
The player after talks decided to stay at Margate.

An educated guess based on general football knowledge. Scout7 is the market leader, the full and proper package costs around 80-100k per season. Cant see us paying that.
There is a budget version for around 5-10k I think, but the stats you get from that are pretty basic. I don't think that level goes into much detail.

It would be nice to think we have a couple scouts working for us. Maybe one looking at future opposition and another 1 or 2 scouting Northern based clubs in the leagues below. Specifically targeting under23s.
You only have to pay them 40p a mile and throw them a grand maybe when one of the players signs.

Am I right in thinking either Craig Rutherford or Scott Redhead does opposition evaluation for Championship clubs? What they do is watch a team over 5 games and pick out strengths and weaknesses of sides then report back. Ive heard that there is a lad who does this and is from Barrow, not sure if its either of the names mentioned

Seriously though.

Where was this money for offers when Edmo had all summer to build a squad?

to be honest i think this transfer window has been a shambles, when paul casson appointed cox i`m certain he will have told him he had players lined up to come in this window, i just don`t think the board /casson have thought beyond offering money/wages (if it got that far).

i seriously believe if paul cox is to succeed we have to offer more as a club or we will be stuck with having to play second fiddle to the much larger clubs than us who have more to offer than just money!yes i know a few will just want that but if they are going to commit to 2 year deals etc.we have to sell them a decent future, plans for ground etc. one that is going to happen not "definately/maybe" (sorry oasis fans!)

:) Lets hope that by the time "summer shopping" begins we will have in place scale models of the new ground and firm proposals regarding training facilities hopefully in/near Barrow.

If some of the players find driving tiring then perhaps let the train take the strain there are good links by rail. :) :scarf:

I don't see an issue, January is tough month for transfers , Cox is just unsettling some players , every single boss has done it! Official approach , unofficial approach , in a tunnel at a game , come sign for us ! It's down too the player most of the time , they are not 15-16 year olds getting tapped up , these are grown men, that know exactly what they are doing ! Cox/ Casson will bring in quality players at this level in the summer, I'm not concerned that we have only brought in a CM. Pre season is when the good transfers will kick in . The players will be coming from far and wide ie further than 50 mile radius of Barrow! Edmo had money , but Casson wants too give more too Cox , some people will say fair enough , others, Edmo should of got more! Either way as it stands ,we have enough quality in this side too stay up, and push for mid table !

Looking at the players he brought in on long silly money contracts etc.
I'm glad Edmo never had it !!!

How do we know that Edmondson never had the money.
Most of the posts on this forum are based on rumours and one at the start of this season was that Edmondson got none of the 20 names on his wanted list, so he may have had money available to get better players.

Well for a kick off, they were all free transfers.

I know for a fact we did not make any bids for players over the summer
