Holker St isn't ideally located, but Salthouse Mills is worse - further from more of the town, no longer within walking distance of the train station or town, less frequent buses, worse road access for travelling/expat fans.Jonty wrote:Salthouse Mills.
Pro's- Ready to develop brownfield site, no Holker Street planning headaches, re-juvenate regeneration in that area, create jobs, sports village, training facilities, all the onsite parking you need. Basically a platform for success for both the football and rugby clubs and the crown jewel of any future waterfront development. Could include a rail station stop, and attract additonal investment for many other facilities, hotels, waterfront bars, etc etc. A true lasting legacy for the town. Barrow is a town with massive investment coming and this would enhance all of this.
Well?

I don't see how it'd create more jobs than Holker St, and there's absolutely no chance of a train station being built there. A hotel or similar is possible, but "Waterfront bars" seems a bit of a stretch.
The space would be good, but IMO it would be a bad location in general.
