Re: Fans' Feedback
What happened to the club creating an event on Facebook for every home game at HS?
Allowed you to invite people who might be interested and they get a reminder the day before?
The last one I got that was made by the club was October. It takes about 5 minutes to make an event and post it on the clubs Facebook page, and then the fanbase share it amongst themselves. Crazy that such an easy win is not utilised!

Cheers. It's always interesting to see the effects of various schemes. Morcomb have been mentioned a few times on here - radio ads, one adult ticket lets you bring three kids for free etc - but their crowds have been terrible once away support is factored out.
Re: Fans' Feedback
Problem with quid for a kid, or free tickets for jniors is the club needs to work out the business case.
If there is currently 200 kids that would qualify for freebies then that's probably 1500 quid a game x 23 home games we are missing out on. Best part of 35k.
Does the business case stack up to do it?
I know people will say long term it will work but long term is exactly that, a long way off.
We need a General Manager to drive this stuff forward.

Good Points!barrowaberdeen wrote:Crazy man. And yep, all u11 for free. (Although distributing the Trust Free Tickets this year has taught me that some families simply can't afford the adult ticket to take them)Bigfathoss wrote:
Don't let Russell Dodd hear you say that. ohhhhnononononononononono.
Get the community arm to focus on a school a week, assembly week before with a presentation then free tickets.
If Barrow AFC gave me 8 free adult tickets along with U11s free for a home game I could get 30 people in the ground. There's 3 or 4 of us at different schools could administer that..100 odd right there. You can use the old From Father to Son, Ultras iconography (look for it I am supposed to be working). Imagine if that 3 or 4 schools was 10?
Secondary pupils don't want to go with parents. For the Tuesday night games, target them.
Youth tickets are essential and apprentices/students been given equal discount. They should talk to Furness College, BAE and GlAXO etc about it being part of discuount packages they receive on induction.
Contractors will come to football, they are bored at night. What about doing deals with all the local hotels as part of a package, so they can offer night games. Town is about to be invaded by Geordies and Weegie contractors, they love their football.
Friendships and the sense of community are often formed at away games. Give us a hand from time to time to run promotions, Lincoln are coming up here next Tuesday on buses subsidised to a fiver each. That builds loyalty.
Best get on
I remember BRLFC giving out free tickets out when I was at Secondary School. A bunch of us used to regularly attend games with these tickets. Interestingly, out of the guys who attended three of us went on to play for Barrow Boys Rugby U14s and two lads later played professionally for the club. Apart from increasing attendances free tickets can also be used to create passion, loyalty and a love for the club among the young...
I also firmly believe that having a Football Special Bus - transporting fans from various locations in the town to Holker Street would be an asset. Why not a double decker?
Imagine the atmosphere that could be created on the bus! + there would be ample room on the outside of the bus to advertise anything related to Barrow AFC as it drove through the streets...

Unfortunately, a lot of today's younger kids, get there, soon get bored and stick their heads in their Smart phone. Or if seated, resort to flipping an empty seat in front up and down or sticking their feet on the back of the occupied seat in front.
Mind, you seem to have more standing room than us, so a bit less of that there.
Non essere curioso!

Agree. Lots of good ideas but, as a business rather than a social enterprise, BAFC needs short and medium term gains, too.EHB wrote:Does the business case stack up to do it?

Considering the club seem to give zero [SwearFilter] about making money themselves letting a few kids in for free in an attempt to boost attendance's isn't that crazy.Hadrian wrote:Agree. Re: Fans' Feedback
Another probable advantage of 'kids for a quid' tickets Is not only the furure financial aspect (dragging along parents, other family members) but a fuller HS will have a good impact on the team & general match day feel.
It's an absolute no brainier if the club have any ambition.

We spent 50k launching a shirt at the shard.
Kids will generally spend 2-3 quid on pop and sweets so it will offset the loss. Agree with Herbie big time with regards to schools and youth tickets. Youth's from the age of 13 can look after themselves. Me and 3 mates would go from the age of 12/13 without our parents and we loved it. 4 of us went to pretty much every home game until we all left for uni etc and we would go to a lot of away games. Coming back for Xmas.
Got to break some eggs.
Oh and get some decent shitters and food.

It's them buggers from Bolton-le-Sands who would rather travel 50 miles to Barrow than support their local team...Lancaster Branch wrote:Morcomb have been mentioned a few times on here... but their crowds have been terrible once away support is factored out.

Would you be able to pass on contact details for Hoss?spirit of 1990 wrote:I think Hoss did a bit of an unofficial survey a few years back (I contributed to it) if you ask him verrrry nicelyhe might have it tucked away with his "Jezza for PM" leaflets and be willing to share it with you.
From what I remember of it, it would've had similar answers to what you are asking supporters/ex supporters/non supporters for.

We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Re: Fans' Feedback
Don't know if they still do but the Roiders used to do a lot of coaching sessions in Furness schools (not just in Barrow!) and hand out free tickets whilst doing do. Would rely on players going to Barrow outside match days occasionally but creates real community interest
