Re: Elliot Newby
Done well & Wukkie who are challenging & at Alty who are struggling in a higher league, Some may say but he's doing good in a struggling side but, It's harder to shine as an forward type player in an under the cosh side so he is really doing well on limited forward chances, Hope PC is keeping close tabs on him & gives him a decent shot at it.
For the lads sake though if he isn't in genuinely in PC's plans then let him go & prosper, Good luck Elliot.

Alty have now announced that the manager quoted there won't be kept on.Mark Mc wrote:http://www.messengernewspapers.co.uk/sp ... er_Doughty
Probably time for a new start for Elliot, having become the forgotten man at Barrow. And it looks like Alty will cherish him as an asset!

Re: Elliot Newby
I read that the current manager has to re-apply and be interviewed along with any other candidatesLancaster Branch wrote:Alty have now announced that the manager quoted there won't be kept on.Mark Mc wrote:http://www.messengernewspapers.co.uk/sp ... er_Doughty

To be honest i am not sure how many games he played but it's probably because he is a local
We have been content to play two Goalkeepers who made several mistakes.
Why has this lad been given about 10 games on the trot and nurtured.
I remember i think Duncan Nicholson getting a hat trick against Stafford and then got dropped next game
Local lad but Manager put his mates in.
Happens all the time even in Barrow company's.

And if we had a team of locals you would be the first to say it showed casson had no money and ambition

Did i say i want a team of locals? You assumed it so please do not try to read mind.Bingo wrote:And if we had a team of locals you would be the first to say it showed casson had no money and ambition
Do you think he is not good enough ?
Paul Cox has kept a few players in who looked poor at times Diarra,Dixon,Flatt.
As for Paul Casson I said in December the true intent would be seen in January.Money for whatever reason was not made available for Paul Cox to bring in additional players for the final push.
I jokingly said if we got promoted Cox would get sacked.
The Chairman would have to spend more money.
As for this tripe he bought the ground and a boiler ,well it's what you call owning a football club

Graham Nicholson, I worked with him in the yard.Pedro wrote:I remember i think Duncan Nicholson getting a hat trick against Stafford and then got dropped next game
I agree with Bingo.
We didn't underestimate them, we just didn't think they were that good.

Every post you make is a troll, why ?Pedro wrote:I think Cox will keep him assuming he does not leave himself.barrowfan_chris wrote:I think he has potential and has scored at this level for us just not sure he could flourish in a Cox team so for footballing reasons he would be mad not to establish himself there to work his way back up the football pyramid.
Shame hopefully this U21 team comes about soon but with first team training nowhere near Barrow apart from lancs cup games I dont see a path for locals to get into our squad.
It's obvious the way the season has gone he will look to cut next season's players budget and i assume lower paid players will be kept on.

Re: Elliot Newby
Barrow forum can't decide whether he's only got a contract cos he's local, or he can't get in the side cos he's local...
The answer is clearly neither. He's at Barrow because he wants to be here and he's got potential, but he's not quite good enough to play at the top end of the Conference. He may be doing well right now, but there's a huge difference between the two divisions.

Be an even bigger difference next season if he stays at Alty.

Re: Elliot Newby
I think it might also be an age thing as he's been in youth leagues with Pro clubs & now is playing & learning his trade in the Mens leagues admittedly in lower leagues but that hasn't stopped Bennett, Moose, & Williams prospering in the higher divisions, Difference is their age & the fact that they previously had Mens league experience.Moribund wrote:He's at Barrow because he wants to be here and he's got potential, but he's not quite good enough to play at the top end of the Conference. Hope the lad carries on improving & we eventually recall him & give him his chance.
