All this negativity is distressing. Poor old sand-deviltemp. No wonder they don't post anymore on here with all this world class banter.

Re: Kit manufacturer
Whoever it is? (kit manufacturer). Just for once - I'd like to be able to purchase a shirt WITHOUT Advertising on it.
There must be other fans, surely, who'd welcome the opportunity?
Old Skool Rules!
Regarding a former member of this forum and his love of Fylde's positive marketing strategy opposed to our own. He DOES have a point!
Maybe this would be an opportunity for Barrow to lead the way?
Surely it wouldn't cost that much extra to print off a few shirts WITHOUT Advertising?
As far as I know - NO other club has ever done this.
For Barrow to be the first would generate some media interest, at least, and maybe even start a trend?

Re: Kit manufacturer
I would have thought it was part of any deal with the sponsor to have their name on the replica shirts. At the end of the day, they would want to maximise their exposure - especially if the games are not on TV.The Tomahawk Kid wrote:Whoever it is? (kit manufacturer). Re: Kit manufacturer
Never going to happen.
How would you feel if you were a company that has parted with x amounts of money to have your companies name plastered on the front of the teams shirt only to see the club selling shirts without your logo/name on them?

Re: Kit manufacturer
Surely they'll be enough people buying the 'Branded' shirts without the sponsor having to worry about a few that have declined. I wasn't talking about them being mass produced!
I've often wondered if the 'Walker's' logo (just one example) being brandished in front of thousands of people sends them all (or even a few) rushing to the shelves to buy crisps or any other advertised product...
I doubt it!

Maybe...maybe not...but the fact you know about them being on the shirt means it's already worked. The Tomahawk Kid wrote:I've often wondered if the 'Walker's' logo (just one example) being brandished in front of thousands of people sends them all (or even a few) rushing to the shelves to munch on crisps, anyway...
I think NOT.

Re: Kit manufacturer
Didn't Southampton once produce a very distinctive away shirt - white with a red diagonal slash across the chest - devoid of advertising? I'm sure I saw it being worn during a televised game...

I might KNOW about the product. But the INTENTION of the Sponsor is to SELL their product.
I can't remember buying ANYTHING or FROM ANYONE I've ever seen advertised on a football shirt - unless I've already had a mind to do so...

If i owned a business who paid good money to advertise my company on a team's shirt only to find that the club were selling shirts without that advertisement i would certainly be seeking legal advice

Re: Kit manufacturer
Actually it's not just about selling their product, but brand awareness. Advertisers know that not everyone is going to buy something from seeing it on a shirt or from a commercial on tv. But it subliminally sticks in people's heads and it may or may not influence decisions in the future. The Tomahawk Kid wrote:Londonblue wrote:

You might not buy walkers crisps from seeing it on a shirt, but there is more of a chance you might than if you don't see it at all.

Re: Kit manufacturer
I think you're missing my point.
I've already stated I realise the importance of the business/sponsorship side of things.
However, my point was purely based on personal choice. I hinted at this when I mentioned 'Old Skool Rules' in an earlier post.
Does anyone remember that Southampton away shirt? It didn't feature any advertising on the shirt...
Doesn't Russell Anderson attend Southampton/Portsmouth fixtures? Surely he can spout some info on this?

Re: Kit manufacturer
It must work. Shirt sponsorship was introduced 30+ years ago. If it didn't achieve anything it would have died a death a long time ago.As you say LB, brand awareness.Londonblue wrote:Actually it's not just about selling their product, but brand awareness. I don't think there's any evidence of this. And if there was or is - it would be hard to prove conclusively.Londonblue wrote:Actually it's not just about selling their product, but brand awareness.
