Re: Barrow v Aldershot match thread
Hornby will give Pennock a response tomorrow regards his future.
Pennock has offered him to stay in some capacity be it assistant or coach so hopefully something will come of it. Worked very well together today i thought.
Pennock like moore is very open and very nice to deal with. Biggest difference being when Pennock speaks you listen as he speaks so confidently and passionatley.
Onwards and upwards if he can get this kind of response from the players after meeting a hour and a half before kick off what can he do on the back of 2 weeks with them.
Its a shame we dont have a game next week mind as the players for the first time this season looked hungry and up for it

There was a real desire to win the ball and make something happen. They made a point of celebrating goals as a team and perhaps the bad apples have gone?
Stand out performers for me were Hughes, Gomis and Harrison.
Apparently Hornby and Pennock already know each other so the management team may already be in place.

I have always said Hughes would be better suited as a center back rather than a winger as cox played him, let's hope he stays now.

Re: Barrow v Aldershot match thread
Committed, gutsy performance from the lads today and they thoroughly deserved this win. Referee was awful.Great goal scoring from Yussuf (I critised him when he walked off a few weeks ago) .That was the best game I have seen Bauress play with Hughes not far behind.
Personally would blame the keeper for their goal but nothing will take the shine off this.
Even the floodlights on the pop side started going off and on in the first half in protest, ending up with one lamp going pop.
Most enjoyable, but we must back this up. Onwards and upwards.

Surely Hornby deserves some credit for today’s result as I would’ve thought he had more of an input in it than Pennock??
Great game today and Hughes was brilliant - maybe he has found his position
Good to see the bench getting up when we scored
I hope Hornby does stay as part of the team but time will tell

Re: Barrow v Aldershot match thread
I've just listened to the clip. Ady clearly says "he hasn't told me he's going yet" so maybe they can work something out, Hornby has a lot of experience and something may just click there. If he does go, best of luck, it has been a tough couple of weeks for him and pleased we got the win today.
Still searching for the Young Soul Rebels

Re: Barrow v Aldershot match thread
Great to see the effort and the team spirit. Aldershot are definitely no mugs. I’ve been critical of Hughes before, not for footballing ability, but because he’s naturally not an athlete. I take my hat off to him after today. A really excellent attitude, particularly if he really does want a transfer. Played really well. D
Great to see Harrison fully fit. No one had a bad game, and most were good.
With a handful of new players, the new (impressive so far) manager, and previously injured players returning, it’s not looking so bad.
Certainly room for hope.

Re: Barrow v Aldershot match thread
Well that was wonderful I think the difference today was everyone seemed to know what their role was and they stuck to it when players and staff celebrated the third goal it was absolutely brilliant.
At the end you could see a cloud had been lifted off the players and if hughesy wants out he celebrated like someone who is far from leaving.
Anyway if people want to leave good riddance!
Young Bauress has had a lot of stick on here but today he was outstanding and also Thompson the lad from Coventry.
It's been a long wait but I'd forgotten how good it feels to win

TBH not bothered at all one way or the other - just trying to keep people informed. Do you have a problem with that?

Re: Barrow v Aldershot match thread
It was in the programme notes that were written before they discovered that hornby and pennock knew each other
Pennock has made an offer to neill to remain at the club which neill is considering and will respond tomorrow.
Hopefully he will agree to stay as i believe it could be a very good partnership
