I cannot see any serious investment in either the stadium or the players next season.

Ady got us to the Play-offs the season before last, before his 1 - 0 mantra appeared to trip him and fester uncertainty, but as you say, P/C requires some persuasion to realise that a generous wallet opening, player-wise and a modest ground makeover will bring A/P, or any other decent manager, would bring Barrow FC to at least a play-off spot

The days of makeshift but dedicated team members are long gone.

Hopefully we don’t go into next season with comments like “7th isn’t good enough”. It’s a strong league on paper and I’d be quite happy sitting 12th-14th without any arse nipping this time next year. Consolidate, and improve the club off the pitch so we have better foundations if Casson’s aim remains the same as it was three years ago.

So virtually every post agreeing what a shambolic season this has been (which it has) and you have to trot out that old line. Why not mention the 2010 for 2010 phrase while you're at it?

It's been and gone. We've stayed up and he admitted months ago that it was a stupid thing to say and he never should have said it. Why do we have to keep going back to it?

I’m going through the fixtures and results from the back of the Chester programme and its not good reading. We occupied 20th place or below for 29 of 46 league games, never rising above 18th since the 2-1 win against Boreham Wood in September. Pennock’s record over 29 league games - 9 wins, 11 defeats, 9 draws. 1.24 Pts per game. Over the course that would have you on 57 points and mid table safety. If you look at the way the season panned out there have been two woeful 10 game periods, one pre Pennock arrival, which included the Shaw Lane Cup defeat, we took 6 points out of 30 and then after a little purple patch when Pennock first came in we then went on another really poor run starting with the Boxing Day draw to Wrexham and only picking up 10 points out of 30. Alarmingly since January period we occupied 20th/21st position till the end, with the exception of two weekends when we reached the dizzy heights of 19th. It goes without saying that we have therefore avoided relegation by the skin of our teeth,... with a helping hand on the final day.
You can cut the stats all different ways. The reality is in Casson’s programme notes- “when you look in the mirror you are what you are” I think we will agree it has not been anywhere near where we hoped at the start of the season.

The big question now- what sort of players will we be looking to bring in. Will Pennock be able put his own stamp on things. Think back to his FGR sides that came here. Always up for it, physically strong and organised. We need that here. If we are to avoid the same struggles next season I think we must go for an experienced defence. The rest follows.

Agree. There had been many games when we took the lead, to be unable to put the game to bed or see it out. That is where we lacked game management and highlighted the lack of strength in depth and limited options in a small squad.

To be fair to all and sundrie this is the thread to get it all out. Steeley if I’m honest I chuckled at that as 7th quite simply was good enough this year. That is comedy and sometimes comedy just writes itself. What happens from now on and into next season needs to be implemented with conviction. And to be drawn from all the lessons learned over the past 3 years and especially the last 12 months for Andrew. There can’t be anymore excuses. There can’t be anymore promises without actions to back them up. If it is being drawn to an end we’ll see very soon when a budget is announced. Perhaps relegation was the better outcome for the owners making a break much easier. But one thing we saw yesterday is that the fans are there we didn’t break 2000 but it was a healthy attendance given the magnitude of the game. Prove us wrong Andrew or let someone do the job who has proven they can do it before.

Awful season but we survived.

We are in the top flight of non league soccer which is a high level.
Paul Casson made that possible and we can go again with his support. If he doesn’t want to fund anymore we can’t alter that.

If you listen to the manager's post-match interview that clearly isn't the case. Pennock was given the job of keeping us up. He achieved it. Now he's got the opportunity to build from there.
