Re: Next Season Recruitment
We have 4 weeks until most players are release from contracts and become available.
We have 8/9 weeks until what will likely be our first pre-season game.
We have 13 weeks until our first competitive game.
Let's just relax that we aren't making progress in signings when 1/3 of our opponents next season aren't even confirmed yet!

I think the point is not that we're signing anyone but what strategy we are going down because if it's northbased player's that would probably mean pennock will not stay which puts a different complexion on everything!JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 4:39 pm We have 4 weeks until most players are release from contracts and become available.

Re: Next Season Recruitment
Not necessarily, I think we will get LESS SOUTHERN BASED players but if the right 1 or 2 became available & agree terms etc.blue nige wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 5:32 pmI think the point is not that we're signing anyone but what strategy we are going down because if it's northbased player's that would probably mean pennock will not stay which puts a different complexion on everything!JammyBluebird wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 4:39 pm We have 4 weeks until most players are release from contracts and become available.

Every Southern based player or management has to move to the Manchester area & the Club pays their rent, What is a semi decent flat rent in Manc these days?? Round 6/700??
We could spend much less on rent & more on wages etc
Adi spends most of the week in digs & that gets old quick, He May have had enough of it already but then again he might not....The next weeks weeks will probably revile all.
Re: Next Season Recruitment
I think everyone at the club has been reviled enough already

£25 a night in a hotel - to be paid by the players themselves. Sorted!mickmike wilson wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 5:57 pm Every Southern based player or management has to move to the Manchester area & the Club pays their rent, What is a semi decent flat rent in Manc these days?? Round 6/700??
Re: Next Season Recruitment
I am still trying to fathom out Pennock’s preferred style of play. This is surely one of the first things he needs to discuss with Casson and before any recruitment. From what I saw last season it wasn’t dismilar to Cox. Not saying this is good bad or indifferent, Whatever the footballing philosophy of the club that needs to be embedded at every level from first team down to performance centre and only then go out and get the right players in for that system. Then if there are any opportunities to step up from the performance centre, the players will fit into the style of the first team a lot easier. We need to break that recruitment cycle of “hit/ miss- clear out, repeat” and manage risks a bit better.

Just hope it`s left up to AP to judge character / type of players he wants here without hindrance. We shall see in the summer.

Re: Next Season Recruitment
Possibly have to give Pennock some time to get his preferred players together and get into a style of play but really not sure if Pennock is the man. How can a side be so good away from home and so crap at home?
Defies logic.

Said it before and will say it again. Not strong enough mentally at home. Played with a fear of making mistakes, and crowd abuse. Away- no fear. We have no leaders on pitch. No lack of effort, but lack of mental strength and leadership on the pitch. you may disagree, but that`s my opinion from day one.

Re: Next Season Recruitment
I'm thinking that most people learn by there mistakes, as i have, and in life we all mess up from time to time, so why are our owner or md any different to us? I do trust in our leadership and hope there will be someone who'll push us on as it's time we all came together

Macclesfield playing budget apparently £350k- Champions. Boreham Wood in the play off final- smallest league crowds. It can be done.

Re: Next Season Recruitment
Have the club decided if Pennocks staying yet? We don’t want another summer scrambling about at the last minute trying to get players in

Re: Next Season Recruitment
I can’t see the argument of wanting Pennock out to be honest - look at the reception he had a week ago at the final whistle.
The bloke gets it, and IMHO he’s worked a miracle to keep this squad up. We should be doing whatever it takes within our budget to keep him and his coaching staff on board.
