Yes James Phillips’ interviews are far too long but of course he is Gods gift to commentary so it doesn’t matter. Barrow and all other Cumbrian teams pick up the crumbs that he’s gracious enough to leave between 5 and 6 o’clock.
I think BBC RC will self combust when Barrow move ahead of Carlisle in the football pyramid, within the next 2-3 years

The attendance of over 1500 contained over 700 kids on freebies which is great but means that without them it would have been around 800 which is worrying.

Well earned win with some good stuff in the first half and equally resilient in the second. We were in total control of the game at half time and although we weren’t as much of an attacking threat in the second half, we got that all important second at a time when Maidenhead were having a go at it. Pleasing that we managed that threat and kept the clean sheet. Anyway, things went to script for once with a bigger crowd in, the lads put a shift in and we got a well earned three points. Bring on Tuesday night!
"To achieve anything and to get to the Football League, we have to expect to win every game. I've got to get everyone believing that we can, and I will work hard to embed that mentality into the players, the town, the board and whoever else” Ian Evatt.

We have the clip of the comment which was made which was complimentary of ian evatt and the way he plays.
Someone has got the wrong end of the stick and mixed up what he said.
I listened to the whole commentary and I didn't hear any criticism of the playing style by John Goodwin. He's always been very positive about the way Barrow are trying to play this season.
In his interview Evatt said that Goody had criticised Barrows ‘tippy tippy’ football. ‘If you want to see long balls pumped up the field don’t come to watch Barrow as you will never see that here’. Sounded pretty [SwearFilter] off.

I’d estimate that 300+ of the freebie tickets will of gone to people who would normally go to the football anyway so look at it on a postive side of an extra 300 on the usual match gate.

Brilliant job by all involved and hopefully they hace seen enough to come back

Didn’t hear the post match, but regardless of whether someone did or didn’t say something, everyone is entitled to opinion, that’s what football is about, I guess Evatt is giving his too!. I find Goodwin always gives a well balanced summary and as a fan like the rest of us, is recognising we are clearly are playing some of the best stuff we’ve seen for years. Good that passions run high after an important first win in 5.

Excellent performance today, played really well first half and stood up to the physical stuff which a lot of teams seem to throw at us. Under pressure in the second half but came through it with a second goal and then some astute substitutions carrying us to the three points. Enjoyed the game and the type of football we are playing, it is a pleasure to go to Holker Street again rather than a duty as it seemed to be for so much of last season.
One of the things I really like are goals which we score like the first one today and in other matches where the football and the move are so good the opposition can’t do anything to stop it.
As for the John Goodwin comments thing, I never heard any of the commentary as I was at the match but was surprised as I have only heard him say good things about the way we are playing.

I too have always found Goody to be fair to both sides, and as a former player and manager brings an inside view.

Have you ever thought that some of the "trust school adult and kids" tickets could have been taken by parents who normally attend but effectively were getting a freebie today?
