Ebbsfleet, who will probably be relegated if the season continues, are in favour of ending the season now... there's a surprise.jaycarter wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 4:33 pmThat's the best quote I have seen to resolve the situation, well done Ebsfleet, Its more or less what I said in an earlier post.whitty1969 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:58 pm Ebbsfleet view

Re: Decisions being made
If a vote is done and the club's go for PPG let's hope the ELF accepts the decision and allows Barrow to be promoted and not chose another club to go up but this league cannot wait another 3 months with no income for clubs, but l have a feeling clubs will vote for a null and void season

Re: Decisions being made
Not sure where you get that ? Word coming out of TM is that they would come out of it better than most
It would be the likes of Aston Villa that i.d be looking at, they went into this season owing more than 50% of what they will earn from the PL
Re: Decisions being made
Well there are at least 11 teams in the relegation picture who will vote null and void, and then you have Dover and Boreham Wood who have already said they want null and void. So that's more than half the league, and I expect that's the way the vote will go.behind the goals wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 10:07 pm If a vote is done and the club's go for PPG let's hope the ELF accepts the decision and allows Barrow to be promoted and not chose another club to go up but this league cannot wait another 3 months with no income for clubs, but l have a feeling clubs will vote for a null and void season

But what it says is that they.ll lose 50m and I,d agree more or less agree with tho i.d say unless they were expecting a last-minute surge up the table i.d say it would be nearer to 35m.
But two things in Burnley's favour is they have very few players on more than 30k a week unlike plenty of others and the other thing is they also work to a financial model where they keep 15m back each season from the operating costs which they alternate between a project one year and topping up the reserve in the alternate year and as this year is a top-up year as will be 21/22 the 30m top up money from those two years along with the cancellation of whatever next years project would have been should easily cover their deficit and that's without dipping into their rainy day pot which I believe is to replace the Cricket Field Stand.

Re: Decisions being made
The only National League clubs who wouldn't vote for null and void are the few who might be promoted! All the others have absolutely nothing to gain by voting any other way! However, if the Premier League decides to finish the season and passes enough money down the leagues then all the other leagues will follow. If the Premier League decides to finish the league in their current positions or use a points per game then all the other leagues will also follow. It basically depends on what the Premier League decide to do.Moribund wrote: ↑Sat Apr 04, 2020 11:30 pmWell there are at least 11 teams in the relegation picture who will vote null and void, and then you have Dover and Boreham Wood who have already said they want null and void. The 800 million loss says they.ll play the remaining games if it takes them till Christmas to do so.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 12:06 amThe only National League clubs who wouldn't vote for null and void are the few who might be promoted! They'll lose it either way right? Cos there isn't any football going to be played anytime soon.NORTHERNSOUL wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 12:16 amThe 800 million loss says they.ll play the remaining games if it takes them till Christmas to do so.russell_anderson wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 12:06 am The only National League clubs who wouldn't vote for null and void are the few who might be promoted! Might aswell just start the new season in August (covid dependant). Got euros, Olympics, and world cups to get in the next 2 years so they haven't got total freedom to finish this one whenever. Especially when other European leagues are knocking it on the head.

Re: Decisions being made
If the National League goes to a straight vote between all the member clubs from the 3 divisions the season will end up null and void; the mid table sides won’t be voting for the PPG scenario
Re: Decisions being made
Why wouldn’t mid table sides vote for PpG if it means they are safe regardless?
Sorting prize money might be an interesting conversation - if null and void means no prize money or it means prize money is split equally then that will impact voting.

Re: Decisions being made
In all fairness who decides it's a straight null and void vote ? When Brexit was a topic it was muted by certain parties about another vote the electorate reform society said any future vote would have to have options on to make the vote a balanced and fair one .

Re: Decisions being made
The NL cant go to a straight vote. If the Prem/EFL decide to prolong or call the season with Promotion/Relegation then the NL have to follow suit. If the NL were to deny a club a legitimate opportunity for promotion directly or via the play-offs by pre-empting a decision, it would find itself in court instantaneously. Further it would be an act of PR suicide to do so. In fact so bad would it be that I'm not sure the NL would actually survive such a decision.HenneysKnee wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 7:08 am If the National League goes to a straight vote between all the member clubs from the 3 divisions the season will end up null and void; the mid table sides won’t be voting for the PPG scenario
It has no option but to sit on its hands. Unlike many countries that has a system that is controlled by their national football association and which is wholly dominated by a single elite division, in England we have three separate associations, loosely marshalled and tied to the English FA. This creates the illusion of independence when in fact the opposite is true. The NL are bottom feeders. They are followers not leaders. The one thing they will not do (indeed should not do) is act unilaterally.
This is not my beef with the NL. My own problem with them comes from their lack of openness about this situation. They should come clean and move on to what they could be doing now which is representing the interests of their members in their attempt to manage through this crisis. They are not doing this in what looks like an obvious attempt to preserve an illusion of self-importance. They consequently do look rather tin pot.
If you notice the efforts being put in by the likes of Ian Evatt, its increasingly apparent that in his messages and pleas he is addressing the EFL and not the NL. Its because he knoews who the decision makers really are.

Re: Decisions being made
UEFA sent a letter to all national associations and clubs a couple of days ago saying that they expected competitions to be played to a conclusion. To cut a competition short prematurely, as Belgium has done, risks non-participation in European competitions. They seem to be working on a calendar that would see resumption in July/August with completion of European comps thereafter. A delay to the start of the following season might be expected. Don't think we can expect any early decision from the PL, therefore.

Re: Decisions being made
Technically the Belgian FA would say they haven't cancelled the season but concluded it. The UEFA statement does use the word "cancellation" and not ""curtailment". So it doesn't rule out a PPG type outcome. But it makes it absolutely clear that "null and void" is to be avoided for any team wanting to be accepted in its competitions next season. So even if all the Premiership chairmen got together and though it a great idea to void the season they couldn't do so without falling foul of a possible UEFA expulsion or sanctions.Nigel Bamford wrote: ↑Sun Apr 05, 2020 11:33 am UEFA sent a letter to all national associations and clubs a couple of days ago saying that they expected competitions to be played to a conclusion. Whilst voiding might seem a likelihood at our level that's because we look at things from our level and if you look at things purely from a non-league perspective voiding might look obvious. But if it were that obvious it would already have been done. I do increasingly believe that it is the firm intention for professional leagues to finish the season however long it takes. Unfortunately as previously stated at our level the membership structure of the NL may be very badly damaged by then.
